Purpose is seeking an innovative,entrepreneurial & strategic expert in corporate social impact with client-facing experience to be a senior client principal & thought leader. As a Senior Director, you will play a Principal role on projects working with brands & businesses, be a thought leader in the future of corporate impact & ESG, oversee key client relationships, & proactively seek out new ways to build Purposes business.

Were looking for someone with 15 or more years of work experience in leading impact-driven strategic initiatives & campaigns from a consultancy/agency, corporate or non-profit, with diverse experience including some or all of this work:

  • Building & managing relationships with key stakeholders across major corporations & businesses;
  • Advising on, or implementing, corporate purpose, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, ESG projects & campaigns, either as a consultant or in-house
  • Leading projects with multidisciplinary teams in a deadline-driven environment
  • Working to leverage corporate power to create a positive social or environmental impact in the world
  • Building or working with project scopes & timelines in a client-based relationship 
  • Generating impact-driven campaigns or public-engagement initiatives that drive participation across stakeholders & audiences

As a project principal you will take a lead role in building & growing client relationships in the corporate sector by delivering best-in-class work with a matrixed team of strategists, campaigners, impact measurement experts & project managers. You will also be part of Purposes Senior Leadership Team, playing an important role in shaping the future of the organization at large.

The ideal candidate is a tenacious individual who can run a pitch process, inspire & care for a diverse team, deliver sharp strategy & creative thinking, & push our clients to take bold, impactful & equitable action on the biggest issues of our time. You know how to build relationships with people & organizations that represent a diversity of identities, & understand how to use existing power structures for social change. 

The role reports to the Head of US. This role is offered at the Senior Director tier with a salary range of $140,000 - $175,000 commensurate with experience with additional variable compensation against co-determined parameters -  along with medical, dental & vision benefits & a generous paid time off policy.

  • Collaborate closely with the MD of North America & Head of Partnerships to build, execute & expand our private sector client work in the US;
  • Pitch for, lead & deliver Purposes movement methodology to a range of businesses & brands with a team of smart strategists, campaigners & impact measurement specialists;
  • Take the lead on key client relationships, ensuring projects deliver to their needs while  building long-term trust that leads to future engagements;
  • Contribute to, refine, & create new Purpose IP & frameworks & provide thought leadership on using corporate power to deliver positive impact in the world;
  • Be an externally-facing thought leader on the power of brands & businesses to drive positive change in the world.
  • Help to expand the capabilities of Purposes wider team in working with private sector organizations & clients;
  • Provide direction & recommendations that connect campaigning methodologies to clients ESG & corporate purpose frameworks;
  • Set the standard & model leadership on internal & external projects through strong expectation management, direction & delegation while fostering ownership & commitment in others;
  • Support & guide others in maintaining positive & respectful relationships, particularly during times of conflict/change.


  • 15+ years experience, ideally at the intersection of business & social/environmental impact while managing multidisciplinary teams, complex projects, & senior clients;
  • Strategy background from a brand or social impact consultancy/agency, large corporation or similar spaces;
  • Strong client leadership & team management skills with experience scoping & delivering fee-for-service projects;
  • A clear understanding & strong point of view on current corporate & brand purpose trends;
  • An ability to work with civil society, advocacy organizations & philanthropists through a lens of equity & be thoughtful about how brands navigate impact ecosystems;
  • Dedication to building a diverse, equitable & inclusive work environment
  • Demonstrated interest in social sector organizing & the issues Purpose & its clients are passionate about;
