Project Director

Were seeking a Project Director to join our Development Architecture + Design team in New York. The Project Director will report directly to the VP, Architecture.

What Youll Do:

Convene is looking for a passionate & innovative Project Director who masterfully collaborates with complex, multiple-stakeholder teams to deliver high quality projects on time & on budget.

As a Project Director, you will be responsible to work with a diverse team to translate concepts & brand narratives into high quality, high performing spaces. As a strong collaborator & process driven individual, you will use your superior understanding of space, design translation, coordination & schedule to work closely with the development & construction team to shepherd multiple complex projects from design through to construction. Your success will be your sophisticated understanding of the design & construction industry & your ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, as well as knowing how to make things happen in an efficient & sustainable manner.   • Responsible for delivery of quality projects on time & on budget & on Convene Typology.
  • Work with a cross-functional team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate brand & early stage concepts into well designed, highly coordinated built space as well as administering of budgets & schedules. Responsible for ensuring the team adheres to project parameters, once
  • Collaborate directly with key stakeholders to achieve complex decisions.
  • Lead project consultant teams to ensure all parties are effectively engaged & are operating at their highest capacities. Use of sophisticated tools & processes is expected to stay ahead of industry standards.
  • Proactively address project related issues from Schematic Design through Project Closeout & know when to report to leadership.
  • Oversee activities of contractors & subcontractors related to project submittals, RFIs, change orders, payment requisitions & punch list signoffs
  • Prepare/update project status reports, update tracking reports & maintain files for due diligence.
  • Be responsible to understand the value of detailing & how it impacts project budgets. Be able to course correct project teams when needed.
  • Demonstrate a proactive focus on translating Convenes Brand & Design Typologies & ethos to external professionals
  • Responsible for technical reviews, complex code interpretations & coordination oversight of projects.
  • Manage & conduct reviews for Associates & Senior Associates within the studio.
  • Comply with all Convene policies & procedures, including but not limited to ethics & business practice
  • Be flexible & adapt as per the growth/direction for the company
  • Maintain accurate & consistent electronic files & documentation.
  • All other duties as assigned

What We Look For:

  • A professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
  • 7+ years of professional experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of design & spatial concepts, practices & workflows.
  • High level of creativity, innovative thinking & problem solving.
  • Strong desire to elevate the profession to a new level through processes, tools & workflows.
  • Successful track record of inspirational leadership of both internal & consultant teams resulting in higher output, quality & team engagement than industry norms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use & application of sophisticated design processes & technologies to deliver projects on time, on schedule & at a high level of quality.
  • Advanced Revit skills required with strong grasp on parameters & programming workflows preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Smartsheets, Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam & AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with reading & evaluating architectural & engineering drawings, furniture, & space planning concepts.
  • Flexibility with work hours & travel as needed
  • Excellent sketching & conceptual design skills.
  • Proven track record of inspirational leadership of both internal & consultant teams resulting in higher output, quality & team engagement than industry norms.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal, listening & written; including presenting complex concepts & client presentation skills.
  • Advanced Revit skills required with strong grasp on parameters & programming workflows preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Smartsheets, Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam & AutoCAD

  • You thrive on mentorship & can always make time to confidently mentor others.
  • Extensive working knowledge of lease agreements, due diligence reports & local building codes
  • Organization skills with the ability to identify & manage priorities without day to day supervision
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
