Job Description

The Director South Cone Cross-Border Business Development will lead the development of Visa's cross-border business & other strategic initiatives in the South Cone Countries to grow international payments & the business of our bank, merchant, acquiring, Fintech, & Payment Facilitator clients. The individual needs to be a strong leader who is proficient in building an effective strategy, able to expertly translate strategy into tactical execution, & adept at collaborating & building support of cross functional teams, inside & outside the region.

Key Responsibilities

Be accountable for reaching cross-border targets by identifying new opportunities & risks, developing & executing plans that change the trajectory of growth, evolves our client relationships, & breaks through the constraints to generate tangible impact on Visa's Cross-Border performance in the region.

Adapt the Global & Latin America & Caribbean cross-border payments strategy for the South Cone Region & develop tactical plans to achieve defined goals, design effective client relationships & business development strategies (including in Travel, eCommerce, Remittance & Business to Business payments).

Represent Visa in client discussions as the Cross-Border expert by partnering with Account Executives, working with banks, merchants & acquirers to understand their needs, & implement the right activities & solutions that will grow cross-border card expenditure for both retail & commercial payments.

Support Account Executives in cultivating & managing the subsequent pipeline of activity & revenue opportunities. Understand deal commercials to align investment & target the right opportunities.

Deeply understand the Cross-Border & FinTech trends across all payment flows (Travel, eCommerce, Remittance & B2B) to be confident in addressing banks & cardholders' needs. Identify new capabilities to future-proof the business. Customise & feed new cross-border capabilities, collateral & programs driven out of the Latin America & Caribbean Hub into the South Cone.

Work with Client Services to enhance payment success rates for all stakeholders in the Cross-Border ecosystem (consumer, merchant, issuer, acquirer), making Visa the preferred method of payment, both Inbound & Outbound.

Share best practices from South Cone Region with functional teams Global & Latin America & Caribbean.

Take proactive measures to knowledge share, coach, & train Sales & other functional teams in the South Cone on activities related to Cross-Border growth.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in highly successful businesses that have a strong track record of client service, strategic development & execution. Experience at a top-tier management consultancy and/or a solid track-record of operating in an in-house corporate strategy role, coupled with managing operations of a function or business unit is a strong plus.
  • MBA preferred.

Extensive experience in either banking/financial services sector or Technology / FINTECH sector experience. Strong knowledge of payment industry products, services & technologies, eCommerce, mobile technology & Cross-Border business is a plus.

Experience in client-facing roles, having led senior client discussions & solutioning engagements with multiple key stakeholders, ideally including financial institutions (banks), large retailers, multinationals, governments, local partners, etc.

  • A proven track record of delivering high impact results working on projects in the areas of corporate strategy, growth initiatives & new market/segment/business strategies
  • Global or multi-national business experience is preferred

Ability to structure & manage complex cross-enterprise projects & processes with multiple stakeholders

Strong commercial & financial acumen

  • Superior problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual & analytical rigor
  • Strong interpersonal & leadership skills to influence & build credibility as a peer with functional & regional leaders within Visa. Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic & flexible.
  • Proactive & effective communicator. Experienced at presenting information to all levels, with ability to facilitate group discussions & debate & proven ability to influence & communicate effectively across geographic & functional lines

Willingness to travel 40%+.

  • Fluent in English & Spanish.

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit & stand at a desk, communicate in person & by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones & computers, & reach with hands & arms.
