The design team at theSkimm consists of ambitious, collaborative, & thoughtful designers, who work closely on all things related to theSkimm brand. They support pre & post sale partnerships, brand marketing, growth marketing, social, editorial, & product teams. We feel passionate & excited about designing products & experiences that millions of people touch on a daily basis. 

This person is a key member of the team, working with internal stakeholders & the creative team on everything from branded content to editorial. The ideal candidate has a sophisticated aesthetic & is comfortable working at a fast pace under short lead deadlines. 

How youll contribute to our mission

• Under the guidance of a Creative Manager while working closely with other members of the team, support projects by designing creative assets that elevate & reinforce brand identity, user experience, & project & company objectives
• Work within brand guidelines to create designs for sales, including branded content, pre & post sales, & commerce
• Support the design team in production of creative assets across the organization
• Receive & give feedback to other designers to continually iterate & improve on designs
• Ensure theSkimms brand styles & voice is represented in all projects
• Work with the entire design team to evolve the design system, understanding the value of design patterns & helping to build & maintain a cohesive visual language
• Maintain knowledge of design trends & techniques, while continuing to develop skills

Youre ready for this! Heres a bit more about what were looking for

• Prior digital design experience
• BFA degree is preferred
• Proficient in Figma & Adobe Suite
• A sound design aesthetic with a solid understanding of typography & composition, & grids
• Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is a bonus
• The ability to work collaboratively with a team, independently & under close direction
• Strong time management & organization skills
• Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly & work in a fast-evolving environment
• Passion for theSkimm's brand & products is a plus
• A strong understanding of our target demo since this individual will engage with theSkimm products every day

What about the office?

This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work. 

Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. We have a hybrid environment & ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in New York & will adjust this plan accordingly.

We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations & will also require additional boosters, & will always follow CDC & NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
