The Job

As a data analyst you will bring 500pxs understanding of our Community & Licensing business to the next level & help us move forward confidently with data-informed decisions. The Data Analyst is responsible for contributing to creation of KPIs & dashboards, conducting business impact analysis, evaluating product usage & trends, & using data to find business growth opportunities. The Data Analyst reports to the Data Team Lead & will collaborate with Senior Leadership to influence Licensing related decisions & performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Interpret data & turn it into information which can offer ways to improve a business, thus affecting business decisions through gathering information from various sources & interpreting patterns & trends
  • Conduct complex queries on our data warehouse to help teams get the data they need, & maintain key reports & dashboards to track operational & business metrics
  • Build & maintain dashboards & reports that enable the Senior Leadership, Product, & Marketing teams to: drive business decision-making, drive performance & answer business questions in a measurable & actionable manner
  • Tell data stories to stakeholders by drawing insights from data analysis, bringing insights together to formulate the story & making recommendations for actions
  • Help your cross-functional team with data reports & data discovery by optimizing self-serve BI solutions & providing SQL support
  • Develop data collection plans & ensure the integrity of data collected
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns of user features & activities
  • Analyze trends in image usage via image metadata, sales reports, categories & keywords
  • Work with the technology team to identify, implement & maintain the systems we need to collect, verify, & analyze behavioural data
  • Define standards for data quality, & support the technology team in meeting those standards
  • Communicate & distribute data insights, tailoring presentations & findings to audiences across all levels of the organization

What the Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A Bachelor's or Masters degree in statistics, computer science, math, physics, or a related quantitative field
  • 1-2 years professional experience of consultation to internal groups or departments
  • Expert knowledge of statistical sciences: statistical modelling & data mining
  • Expert knowledge of MySQL & PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency in querying MySQL & Redshift databases
  • Excellent analytical skills including cohort analysis, funnel analysis, AB testing, & lifetime value analytics
  • Hands-on experience with Python and/or R.

You'll get bonus points for:

  • Experience with community based platforms
  • Experience with commercial licensing an asset
  • Knowledge of third party tools like Optimizely, Google Analytics, Amplitude, & Braze
  • Knowledge of advanced data analysis topics such as: causal inferences, data simulation, or correlated data analysis(e.g., survival analysis, longitudinal analysis, time series analysis & forecasting)
  • Working experience with python libraries for data wrangling, visualization, mining & modelling(e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Statsmodels, SciKit-Learn, NLTK)
  • Working experience with R packages for data wrangling, visualization & modelling(e.g., reshape2, dplyr, stringr, lubridate, ggplot2, car, forecast, randomforeset, Caret, survival)
  • Knowledge of business intelligence such as SaaS metrics, time series forecasting, or pricing analysis
  • Knowledge of data warehousing & ETL

Our Interview Process

  • Phone screen: < 30 min conversation with a hiring manager
  • Tech challenge: a take-home test to analyze a sample of 500px dataset & build an insightful presentation
  • In-person interviews: 3-5 hours at our office where you'll meet multiple members of our team
