Overview:

Director, Global Supply Management & Production is the senior functional lead driving overall global vendor strategy for Glossiers physical product portfolio reporting into the Supply Chain Operations Group. Responsibility includes vendors for both components as well as contract manufacturers. As a company that works only with third party manufacturers, this role has significance importance & accountability to provide & manage a sustainable, scalable & high quality supply chain for our products. Key accountabilities under this role include:

  • Vendor selection criteria & qualification
  • Contract negotiations & contract compliance
  • Overall supplier relationship management
  • Supplier performance & reviews
  • Cost negotiations & margin accountability based on cost targets
  • Vendor issues management
  • Production management
  • WIP material management
  • Purchase to Pay cycle accountability

This functional role works closely with & is supported by a Product Commercialization (Technical) team, Program Management team, Quality & Product Integrity Team & Planning & Inventory team.

Six Month Expectations:

  • Alignment with internal stakeholders on vendor strategy (with Product Development, Logistics, Quality, etc.)
  • Continue to move vendor base to a strategic vendor base with higher levels of leverage & collaborative partnerships
  • Onboard with own team & with adjacent functional work teams, provide initial assessment of team skills set with a look towards a three year growth strategy
  • Achieve a working level of knowledge of current vendor capabilities & gap identification
  • Continue to move organization to simplifying buy transactions through vendor consolidations as well as directed buy/Turnkey model
  • Drive the formalization of vendor documentation (e.g. onboard documents, vendor development guidelines, contracts/agreements, quality guidelines, production/delivery guidelines, etc.)
  • Implement Supplier Visibility Portal to simplify tracking & increase visibility of incoming shipments (in at least 75% of vendor base)
  • Fully accountable for the smooth operations of the production function to ensure timely orders & minimize for any out-of-stock
  • Orient vendor base & help optimize the use of collaborative planning & other strategies to improve agility (reducing lead-times)

Nine to Twelve Months Expectations:

  • Moved to Directed Buy/TK model for over 75% of our partners
  • Orient vendor base & help optimize the use of collaborative planning & other strategies to improve agility (reducing lead times)
  • Develop & publish meaningful KPIs for our function
  • Develop vendor scorecards & formalize vendor business reviews
  • Train & develop succession & knowledge base for key roles in org
  • Have contingency plans for top item

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent negotiation skills with a partnership approach
  • Experience in & managing & developing a team
  • Experience with scaling up org & function
  • Experience with global sourcing
  • Experience in FMCG, Personal Care or Beauty industry preferred
  • Appreciation for & strong grasp of the Glossier brand
  • Willingness to travel (20 to 25%, Domestic & International)
