Remote ITGC Compliance Analyst

The SOX IT Controls & Compliance Analyst is responsible for helping to create and maintain Townsquare Medias IT General Control environment (ITGC) across all in-scope SOX systems. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all ITGC control objectives are in place & operating, & help coach control owners on changes that need to be made in the event a control is not operating. In addition, this role will assist with the reporting & tracking of the SOX program to Townsquare Senior Leaders. Candidates must have direct hands-on experience in IT audits & have a sound understanding of SOX requirements. This is a cross-functional role, working closely with Townsquare Media IT & other functional teams to ensure controls & compliance requirements are clearly defined & implemented. Effective communication & technical leadership are critical to the success of this role. Candidates must possess the ability to fluently speak both technical & business languages interchangeably.


  • Creates and/or remediates ITGC (IT General Controls) in support of meeting audit objectives for all ITGC SOX areas
  • Designs IT testing procedures to identify & evaluate risk exposures & determine the effectiveness & efficiency of controls
  • Assists with the creation of effective remediation solutions and/or exception documentation where applicable
  • Serves as the subject matter expert & point of contact to Internal & External Auditors
  • Assists project teams with the creation & implementation of IT controls objectives
  • Assists with the successful completion of the quarterly UAR (User Access Review) audit process
  • Collaborates with Internal Audit in developing, testing, & devising solutions to effectively meet applicable IT control objectives.
  • Coordinate audit requests received from internal & external auditors
  • Partner with IT control & request owners in the interpretation, monitoring, & reporting of controls
  • Follow-up with request owners for evidence that is coming due, overdue, & past due
  • Document deficiencies & provide remediation plan & management response
  • Conduct industry research on emerging trends in risk & controls
  • Schedule, prepare, & conduct training sessions with key stakeholders
  • Participate in audit observation meetings for an understanding of SOX applications
  • Prepare reports for governance & oversight committees
  • Communicate project status to members of the team in an efficient manner
  • Liaison with other departments to champion governance, risk, & compliance principles best practice
  • Track controls are performed in accordance to control performance schedule


  • Thorough understanding of SOX 404 & IT General Control principles & practices
  • Knowledge of industry-standard frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001/27001/20000, COBIT, COSO)
  • Auditing experience, including planning, executing, reporting, & hosting/facilitating
  • Technical accounting & IT knowledge
  • A clear understanding of IT controls associated with applications, databases, operating systems, networks, & reporting tools
  • The willingness to take initiative
  • Effective time management skills
  • The motivation to provide unmatched client service in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to work well both independently & collaboratively with a team

  • Self-discipline & organizational skills to accomplish assigned responsibilities within specified timeframes & identified budget constraints
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science preferred 
  • 8-10 years of equivalent experience
  • Documentation & presentation skills catered to a diverse technical & business audience
  • Technical knowledge of IT landscapes & roadmaps
