When youre not catching zzzs, this is what youll do
Casper is looking for a Sr Manufacturing Engineer to support Operations.This role will be responsible for Qualifications & Supplier Development & reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing supplier SOPs & collaborate with suppliers to improve as necessary.
- Work with suppliers to resolve any production bottlenecks inhibiting full production capacity.
- Support Casper Quality Team with vendor audits & compliance to Casper Quality Management System.
- Make Drawings changes on product dimensions & materials. Working knowledge of Solidworks is a plus.
- Create Bills of Material.
- Qualify the product by comparing actual dimensions to specifications.
- Evaluate product Quality & make recommendations to the Supplier & Casper teams to improve Process Capability.
- Lead supplier development & qualification meetings collaborating with Compliance, Product Engineering, Operations, Packaging, Quality, & Sourcing to qualify new products & existing products.
- Manage FAI, PVT, & Ramp-up phases of the Qualification Process.
- Document Suppliers SOPs & WI to ensure the supplier is process capable.
- Develop & Maintain files for documents required for FAI & PVT.
- Coordinate & issue Purchase Orders for Burn Tests & Durability Tests required for the Qualification Process.
- Maintain Burn Test History file for each product qualified, & work with Compliance on obtaining Test approval.
- Research & Review Supplier Manufacturing Capabilities to ensure adherence to CQP.
- Conduct Supplier Process Audits to ensure best manufacturing processes are being followed.
- Collaborate with Product Quality & Production Engineering, Sourcing teams to reduce & mitigate return issues.
Our Dream Candidate Has...
- Passionate about Manufacturing Engineering & has 5+ years product launch experience working in a mattress, furniture, soft goods, or a consumer product environment.
- Is experienced in working with a variety of materials including & not limited to polyurethane foam, textiles, upholstery, & plastics.
- Supports manufacturing decisions with data & engineering calculations, research, & experimentation.
- Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering principles including but not limited to time studies, plant layout, material evaluation, Cpk, Process Capability, knowledge of materials & engineering economy.
- Has working knowledge of Solidworks or 3D CAD Drawing.
- Basic GD&T knowledge & the ability to evaluate a drawing, & issue deviations to the Supplier as needed.
- Basic knowledge of PFMEA principles.
- Has shipped Product in a manufacturing environment.
- Has experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools (PLM).
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
