About the role

As the Communications & Community Associate for Store No. 8, you will be working with Walmart Corporate Communications teams & across all portfolio startups. You will need to be high-achieving, quick-learning, detail-oriented, & adaptable to manage both our external & internal communications efforts. You must have a passion for both storytelling & innovation. You will report to the Head of Strategy & Operations & sit on the Store No. 8 core team, which connects the portfolio companies (IRL, Walmart InHome, Jetblack, & Spatial&) & Walmart. This person will create & curate the connective tissue between the core team & the retail innovation world, as well as between the core team & the 1M associates at Walmart.

What youll do

  • Work with core team & portfolio executives to develop & deliver compelling messages related to the perception of Store No. 8
  • Build & roll out communication initiatives (including social media) that relay our key messages & goals both in the retail, tech, & innovation worlds
  • Craft compelling communications for internal use, including emails, newsletters, briefing docs, & presentations
  • Develop creative strategies for communicating to employees across different functions & offices
  • Support large-scale events through communication & promotion
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams & communications colleagues
  • Coordinate content & speakers for team-wide events of various sizes & audiences

What Youll Need

  • 2-4 years of experience in communications, journalism, public relation, social media, marketing, or related area
  • Self-starter with analytical skills, able to identify innovative opportunities, assesses viable solutions, & develop & execute complex projects & comprehensive action plans in ambiguity
  • Experience working with, or on, agency teams & managing their output
  • Strong writing & messaging skills ability to understand the full picture & distill it into simple messaging
  • Ability to create a social media calendar with compelling content, images, & messages
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions to develop, manage & drive communications narratives
  • Comfortable providing guidance & feedback to senior executives
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, adapt quickly & prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong project management skills & the ability to prioritize & multitask
  • Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and/or retail
  • Aware of what needs doing & keen to make it happen, however big or small
