Buyer - Beauty. This individual has the responsibility for driving the business growth & managing the overall sales forecasting & inventory management of the Beauty Division. Working in tandem with the Beauty Director this role is responsible for generating seasonal merchandise plans, marketing efforts, assortment strategies, vendor negotiations to maximize & grow the business & the overall vision of beauty at Moda Operandi.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Director & Chief Merchant to execute strategy
- Working in tandem with the Beauty Director to create monthly & seasonal marketing efforts, partnerships, collaborations, exclusives for the MODA target customer
- Manage the buying process, including building assortments based on historical & current product performance, analyzing business, & managing inventory flow
- Build strong vendor partnerships to negotiate buying terms (price, margin, quantity, delivery terms) & deliver a differentiated product mix
- Create & execute a merchandise assortment plan that supports financial, merchandising, & marketing objectives
- Develop, execute, & meet or exceed department sales, gross margin, & inventory plans
- Identify new business opportunities, including new brands & product development
- Responsible for planning & overseeing the OTB, taking action; recommending reorders & pricing strategies as well as inventory balancing & management
- Acts as expert on competition & industry trends; translate into fashion-forward product with a keen understanding of the Moda client
- Partner with the Planning department to create buy plans
- Negotiate marketing contributions from brands
- Collaborate with private client stylist teams to drive sales & gross margin through innovative trunk show & in-season product launches
- Align cross-functional partners such as marketing, editorial & studio on performance, industry trends, new inventory, & brand positioning
- Train, develop, & mentor your team
- Travel as needed for inspiration & trade shows
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years retail buying experience required
- Bachelors Degree in related field required
- Knowledge of the competitive beauty landscape
- Strong relationships with established & emerging beauty vendors
- A genuine passion for the beauty category & ability to nurture prospective new & exclusive talent
- Ability to think strategically, creatively, & technically as well as a balanced analytical mind with innovative, creative thought from business operation & product standpoints
- Strong working knowledge of an e-commerce business with proven history of taking a data driven approach executing against KPIs
- High level of credibility & integrity, demonstrated through strong industry relationships
- Have a working knowledge of product development for potential MODA branded ranges
- Advanced ability in MS Word, Excel required
- Must be highly organized; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strategic thinker with ability to manage from high level to low level detail
