ABOUT INSURTECH AT CIC
We believe one way to serve our mission is by building centers of excellence focused on specific industries. Recently, CIC decided to focus on the particularly high potential opportunity taking shape at the crossroads of insurance, the business of managing risk, & technology -- that is, InsurTech. (Click here for more information about InsurTech - please note this will make you navigate away from this job description) This industry is at the dawn of a massive transformation. InsurTech Desk is CIC's newly established touchpoint for InsurTech & InsurTech-adjacent companies in the Greater Boston area. In partnership with Innovation Underwriters (IU, a not-for-profit Insurance Collaborative), we support InsurTech companies in the Greater Boston Area.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal InsurTech Desk Manager candidate will possess the following characteristics:

Passionate about startups, innovation, & entrepreneurship, & an interest in, or eagerness to learn about, the insurance & risk industry & desire to support InsurTech companies in the Boston area.
Strong communicator & relationship-builder; excellent instincts as a connector, enjoys participating in local community gatherings & coordinating event logistics.
Committed to work they consider mission based, seeing work as an opportunity to make powerful contributions to larger efforts.
Willing to, & skilled at, performing varied operational & administrative tasks; meticulous approach to detail, organization, & time management; able to self-direct & anticipate problems & needs; independent & trustworthy.
Collaborative; a team-minded, happy-to-help individual naturally drawn to busy, evolving environments, & continually willing to learn.
Able to quickly understand what's needed for the events & programs to be successful.
Excited about creative opportunities to shape the community & the experience of InsurTech clients at CIC, & ready to learn & become well-versed in the InsurTech industry.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The InsurTech Desk Manager reports to Kristin Brief, CIC's Entrepreneur-in-Residence (based in Boston / Cambridge) & works very closely with Charlie Sidoti, Executive Director of Innovation Underwriters (based in Boston / Cambridge) & Anne Webb, Co-Founder of Innovation Underwriters (based in New York). 

Responsibilities are wide-ranging & span several groups within CIC, making the InsurTech Desk Manager a fun & dynamic role! On a daily basis you will be responsible for interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders to promote & implement the missions of both CIC (helping to create powerful innovation ecosystems) & IU (fostering innovation in the management of Risk & business of Insurance). You will coordinate operations across a complex & dynamic ecosystem, support marketing efforts, assist with business development, manage critical relationships both internally & externally, & support event logistics.

REQUIREMENTS
Two to four years of full-time working experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Interest in a long-term role. We are a growing company, & we like to hire people who can grow with us over the years.
Excellent verbal & interpersonal skills.
Marketing and/or insurance industry exposure and/or experience is a plus.
Previous demonstrated interest in the intersection of Insurance & innovation is a plus.

Central location. CIC Cambridge is a stone's throw from the Kendall Square MBTA Red Line stop. CIC Boston is centrally located in downtown Boston & is within walking distance to the Blue, Green, Orange, & Red line.

Compensation is commensurate with experience plus 100% of the cost of a premium healthcare & dental package, long & short-term disability, life insurance, 401k matching after the first year of employment (must be 21+), & two weeks paid vacation plus twelve holidays from the start (more with seniority). Annual reviews with raises significantly above the national average every year for those on track with strong performance.
