We are looking for an escrow analyst to join our accounting team based in New York. The individual will be part of the Controllership
team & will report to the escrow specialist & coordinate with various teams across the organization. The primary focus of the
position will be to administer the day to day aspects of escrow accounts including incoming & outgoing funds, investigating
account discrepancies & managing the related customer service aspects. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the
accounting team regarding fund transfers & preparation of ad-hoc reports. The individual will also partner with the accounting
team to ensure consistent application of policies & procedures & continuous improvement projects are achieved.
At Compass you will:
Responsible for the daily maintenance of escrow activities, including funds management (incoming & outgoing), resolution of
account discrepancies as well as account reconciliations
Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing issue resolution & account discrepancies by collaborating with the
accounting team, the agent finance team as well as customers & agents
Maintain daily reconciliation of funds received in escrow (for closed real estate transactions)
Maintain daily bank reconciliations as well as escrow account reconciliations
Collaborate with the accounting team on the account reconciliations as well as the monthly analytics
Create & distribute accurate internal reports
Assist with maintaining a system of policies & procedures that impose an adequate level of control over escrow activities
Ensure proper controls are operating effectively & collaborate with the accounting team on improvements
Drive process improvement & re-engineer escrow procedures toward a standard solution across markets
Support with the annual financial audit & compliance audit requirements
Perform special projects as assigned
What we are looking for:
Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Business, Management, or other related fields.
1-3 years of relevant accounting experience
Big 4 experience, preferred
Knowledge of real estate, a plus
Experience working across multiple teams
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a plus
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with cross functional teams, agents, clients & third-party providers
Strong analysis, problem solving & decision-making skills
Strong attention to details & project management skills
Ability to multi-task & handle several deadlines simultaneously
Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong dispute resolution & mediation skills to handle issue escalation & resolution
Excellent customer service & ability to work in a team environment
Excellent oral & written communication skills
High proficiency in Excel
Experience with NetSuite, a plus
