About the role

As Oscar's Senior Analyst, you will be a key member of the Legal team who will support the corporate legal team with litigation support, subpoena response, legal operations & billing support, & other general legal support matters.

You will report to the Director, Senior Litigation Counsel.This is a hybrid role. You will work part of the time in the New York office & part of the time work-from-home/remote. #LI-Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Support internal litigation counsel in all aspects of litigation & case management. Work autonomously on document management & litigation tracking. Draft basic documents, including litigation holds, settlement agreements, & multiple correspondence.
  • Project management of discovery & fact gathering, including communicating with multiple partners, gathering & reviewing documents from individuals & internal systems, organizing information & providing analysis, & handling data transfer.
  • Intake & response to third party discovery & subpoenas, typically involving health insurance records subject to privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Communicate with opposing parties (attorneys, providers, & members) regarding disputes & potential resolution. Interaction with court staff, including occasional appearance in small claims court.
  • Support legal operations functions, including managing the legal billing platform & related processes, & other special projects relating to process improvement
  • Support mail triage.
  • Partner with members of the legal team to draft, review, assess, & edit a variety of legal documents, including service agreements, vendor agreements, contracts, NDAs, BAAs. Support processes for categorizing & maintaining corporate documentation & contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree & 1-3 years of paralegal experience at a law firm and/or in-house
  • Experience & understanding of end-to-end litigation process, legal research, eDiscovery, & contract drafting & interpretation
  • Demonstrable experience performing legal research under attorney supervision & proficient with redlining & editing capabilities of Microsoft Word & Google Docs
  • Experience with legal operations work, including legal billing platforms

Bonus points

  • Experience working in the healthcare industry or insurance industry
  • Experience with startups
  • Familiarity or experience with insurance & health care claims reimbursement/billing issues, plus HIPAA
