Overview

Smartlings rapidly growing design team is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help level up our existing Design System thats used across Smartlings ecosystem of products & services. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our team culture & design craft as we grow the team in 2022 & beyond. Were looking for an individual who specializes in complex problem solving, systems thinking, & empathizing with their fellow designers & engineers.

You Will

As a Senior Product Designer leading the work on Smartlings Design System & Internal Tools, you will be the driving force behind how our teams evolve our craft at Smartling.

Evangelize & advocate for design, systems thinking & the impact its capable of having on a rapidly growing organization with a diverse global audience
Represent design on Smartlings cross functional design system team
Become intimately familiar with the Smartling platform & its users
Evaluate Smartling's existing design system & provide recommendations for long term improvement
Evaluate Smartling's design tokens & work to define consistent, scalable, & accessible tokens for our evolving system
Work with design system engineers to define best practices for naming conventions, asset organization, & governance
Write detailed documentation & run accessibility evaluations for existing components
Collaborate with fellow designers to understand how design system changes could improve design quality & efficiency across the team

You Have

Strengths ranging across UI, Visual or Interaction Design
Proficiency in Figma, components & libraries
Familiarity with Storybook or similar tools
Experience using, building & maintaining Design Systems at scale
A drive to create structure & clarity wherever its needed
Can navigate the fast-moving pace of an early stage, fast-growing project
A home office setup conducive for working remotely, & the ability to work effectively as a remote team member*

Preferred but not required

Prior experience working on B2B digital products or services
Comfortable with presenting & working with senior executives
Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, & related front-end technologies or frameworks
Experience working with accessibility frameworks & specs such as WCAG 2.1

Experienced - youve spent 5 years or more evolving your craft & working on Design Systems & Internal Tools. You have a portfolio that demonstrates this
Systems Thinker - you understand & value the complexity of systems & the environments they create. You can break down something large & ambiguous into small ever-evolving parts
Visionary - you think big but sweat the small stuff when it matters most. You are an expert in making calculated trade-offs in order to achieve a long-term vision
Curious - you are always learning, asking questions, & continually seeking out context & evidence to inform your decisions
Collaborative Problem Solving - you have a no-ego approach to working with others & seeking diverse perspectives when solving problems
