Job Description

Magic Leap is seeking a Lead Software Engineer, Graphics & Performance to help the Solutions Design team deliver first-party applications that demonstrate the capabilities of the Magic Leap platform.  We need a strong technical contributor with a deep understanding of 3D graphics & CPU/GPU performance optimization.  You must have experience shipping Unity-based 3D graphics applications.  You will have the opportunity to work with the platform software teams, systems engineers, application developers, & designers. The qualified candidate needs to be a self-starter & able to operate in a highly dynamic environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prototype, build, & debug new & existing rendering components
  • Analyze & diagnose both CPU & GPU performance issues
  • Track & report on project status, plan architecture, & present product vision to others
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional, team environment to define, design, & ship new features
  • Contribute to team success through code & architectural reviews, as well as cross-departmental presentations
  • Unit-test code for robustness & reliability

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience developing mobile software apps
  • 5+ years experience developing Unity based products
  • Very strong programming skills - extensive experience with C#, C/C++, & shading languages required
  • Solid understanding of 3D math & modern 3D graphics & geometry
  • Solid understanding of mobile CPU/GPU performance considerations & experience optimizing mobile software
  • Experience with OpenGL, Vulkan or other 3D graphics APIs
  • Experience using version control software
  • Ability to learn fast & deliver quickly
  • Relentless desire to improve & overcome challenges
  • Experience working with third-party libraries, frameworks, & APIs
  • Strong communication skills & ability to work in a fast-paced small team environment
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
  • Comfortable extending/refactoring existing code bases as well as strong profiling & problem identification skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with AR/VR applications & platforms
  • Experience with rapid development & remote collaboration
  • Experience developing native plugins for Unity applications
  • Experience with realtime network programming in Unity applications
  • Familiarity with the Linux development environment

Education: 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent experience
