The Department of Economics, part of the Rideshare Labs applied research group, is looking for talented economists who are excited about working in a fast-paced environment, & tackling the unique challenges we face running a two-sided marketplace.
Responsibilities:
- Work on problems spanning Lyfts suite of transportation offerings, across the organization (rider, driver, marketplace, incentives, pricing, etc.)
- Leverage Lyfts platform & the extensive economics literature to answer important questions about the product in order to better understand the factors that influence passenger & driver decisions
- Design & analyze field experiments or conduct observational data analysis to construct models of behavior on the platform
- Apply the latest methods from the economics literature, & in some cases produce novel research in collaboration with academic partners
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, operations managers, & engineers to plan, design, execute, & communicate empirically-driven projects to achieve business impact
Experience:
- Degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative field. Advanced university degree (MS/MA or PhD) in Economics a plus.
- Passion for using economics to understand behavior
- Proficiency in SQL - able to write structured & efficient queries on large data sets
- Experience in programming, especially with data science & visualization libraries in Python or R
- Experience with academic research in economics or a related field
- Attention to detail while moving quickly
- Strong collaborative skills & ability to communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences

This role is work-from-anywhere, excluding the following states & all U.S. territories: Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Puerto Rico.
For candidates living in Colorado the expected base pay range is $110,880-$179,400 and depending on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications, experience & geographic location.
