Do you love creating new games & fast prototyping? The Dots New Games effort is expanding & we are looking for a great Senior Unity Engineer to help launch the next generation of games & features at Dots!

Inspired by minimalist art, Dots was created with the notion that beauty & fun are not mutually exclusive. Now as part of the Take-Two Interactive family, we continue to strive to provide the world with stylish & meaningful daily play experiences.

We have big plans for the next generations of games at Dots. Were looking for an enthusiastic individual who will build our newest prototypes, help design our core game frameworks, & rise to the challenge of making our studios next suite of games!

We are looking for a reliable, passionate, & experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our diverse, multi-talented team. You will work intimately with artists, product managers, & game designers to bring features & concepts to life. You'll be participating in the whole process, from idea to prototype to release to live ops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecting brand new game prototypes in Unity & C#, balancing best practices with speed of delivery
  • Developing new games from idea to market testing to release, ideally writing code that can be reused in future projects
  • Collaborating closely with artists, product, & game designers to efficiently deliver new games
  • Help to establish & maintain standard tools & practices across all of our new game projects
  • Accurately estimating engineering tasks for build milestones & tech specing big features
  • Provide thoughtful & thorough code review & product feedback

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Masters preferred
  • 7+ years industry experience
  • 5+ years of mobile client engineering experience, preferably in mobile game development
  • C# & Unity Game Engine experience is required, & native Android or iOS experience is a plus
  • Experience building new games from scratch, with a strong knowledge of Unity UI & features
  • Worked with product & art/design teams on iterating broad features
  • Experience working in small or unstructured environments & coming up with structured results
  • Self-starter looking for the next big learning opportunity & challenge. Passion for building games & ambition to build games for a global scale.
  • Intuition about mobile game design & development, & has played many mobile games
  • Compassionate team player with strong culture of giving & receiving constructive feedback
  • Written scalable & easily maintainable code, with a strong command of games-relevant software architecture & design patterns
  • Speced, built & maintained internal tools & plugins
  • Integrated, maintained, or created SDKs enabling new features & functionality
  • Experience working with QA & owning defects to resolution
  • Inspired to learn new skills, ideas, & technologies & spread the knowledge to the rest of the team
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must be in New York metropolitan area or willing to relocate

Our Game Plan

The New Games roadmap can be very different from year to year, depending on the status of various projects. However, there are also several on-going cross-game initiatives:

  • Prototypes in general, we have zero to three prototypes running at any given time. Prototypes generally have small teams with a single engineer, & releases are small-scale, for running marketability tests.
  • Soft Launched Games past a certain stage, certain prototypes will scale up to a larger scale team with a dedicated technical lead & several engineers. Releases will target specific KPIs & there is a stronger focus on project quality & stability.
  • Common Game Framework we want to accelerate development of our products & maximize code re-use for common application elements. The design of these components & maintenance of the overall framework is critical for the New Games team.
