The we at CarGurus is looking for a Lead Engineer to help mentor & drive meaningful projects in the automotive space. As a member of this team, you will be a huge part in helping transform the way people buy cars by enabling onsite marketing capabilities & building the most innovative online car purchasing platform available.

What You'll Do:  

• Architect & develop scalable solutions to build well-rounded, dynamic marketing systems  
• Lead 2-3 engineers building & scaling marketing integrations  
• Provide technical leadership & mentorship to the broader team, with the possibility of managing a team in the future  
• Collaborate with fellow engineers, marketing, product managers & data analysts to take an idea from concept to technical design to implementation to testing to measurement
• Take generic tasks & break them into small, self-contained tasks. Accurately estimate & prioritize units of work & drive the incremental release of moderately sized projects
• Work with partner companies to define requirements to integrate their solutions with our platform  
• Be deeply engaged in the full development lifecycle designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring & improving software 
• Advocate for new technology & new methodologies  
• Continuously learn & expand your capabilities  

Who You Are:  

• Expert in OOP (Java preferred), ideally in fast paced environments  
• Solid experience in the data layer including SQL, caching strategies, & storage alternatives  
• Ability & interest in technical leadership & mentoring more junior engineers (ex. code & design reviews)  
• Comfortable with Web Tier technologies & strategies  
• A strong understanding of data structures, algorithms & complexity analysis  
• Ability to iterate & ship ideas quickly, with loose direction.  
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering  
• 8+ years of substantial work experience needed (Leadership experience desired)  
• Experience with marketing technology & ad technology is a plus  
• React experience is a plus
