Getting it Done Right, Fast, & Without Compromise 

Appian is looking for a high-energy, results driven Area Vice President to drive & manage the growth of our commercial sales team. AVPs are responsible for achieving the booking targets within their defined area. They lead a team of  Enterprise Account Executives & also serve as a second tier management for Regional Vice Presidents & their respective teams. This role reports directly to the Vice President Public Sector & will work with other members of the sales & professional services leadership teams to ensure overall quota & business objectives are met.



  • Leads a team of 4 to 8 Account Executives, and
  • Lead a team of up to 4 Regional Vice Presidents & their teams
  • Accountable for the total business results of all subordinates
  • Participates in defining territories, assigning quotas, & determining target accounts
  • Mentors & coaches team members & assists their sales cycles


  • 10+ years direct sales experience & 7+ years in enterprise software sales as a sales team leader
  • Working knowledge of business process automation with a history of qualifying client solution areas & orchestrating multi departmental solution sales
  • Working knowledge of solution selling methodology & practice
  • Excellent written / verbal communication & presentation skills
  • Must be within Greater DC area
