The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a contracted Junior Social Media Strategist to join our team in New York til the end of 2021 with possible extension beyond. You will work on content strategy, external talent & product management & publish content on social platforms. The ideal candidate is a digital native with a deep understanding of what makes content shareable & an obsession for finding the next viral product on the internet. This role reports to the Senior Social Strategist, Social Squad. 

Please Note: We are currently working remotely but expect to eventually return to our offices when it is safe to do so, likely in the fall.

You Will 

  • Analyze & track performance data & surface team wins
  • Identify when an area of focus isnt working & pivot
  • Support social team in service of larger strategic needs when opportunities arise
  • Strategize on content frames & products for commerce-focused content
  • Manage the content calendar & publishing for key commerce social pages 
  • Support Senior strategist with content & talent management 
  • Analyze & track performance data & surface team wins
  • Communicate & brainstorm with content creators & Shopping team to achieve goals & meet deadlines, analyzing & reporting on social performance, trends, & new opportunities.
  • Help maintain the cheery & collaborative BuzzFeed culture with a positive attitude & obsession with the things people are sharing, liking, recommending & talking about on the internet
  • Produce ideas for Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, the App, Apple News & more

You Have

  • 2+ years experience making content on social platforms OR running social accounts for a major publisher or brand
  • Basic graphic design skills 
  • Social media experience & data analysis skills
  • Experience with Content Creation a plus
  • An understanding of online customers buying behaviors
  • Be a self-motivated person who isnt afraid to carve out new responsibilities for themselves
  • Understand Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, etc., & why content on those platforms became popular
  • Have a positive, curious, playful disposition
  • A genuine love for & excitement about shopping
