CLEAR is looking to expand our in-house legal team. The ideal candidate is a business-minded & self-motivated attorney with at least 4 years of experience. Prior in-house experience is not required- we think this is a terrific position for a successful law firm associate with transactional experience to transition to an in-house practice. In this position you will interface with business leaders to support CLEAR's legal needs as we expand into new opportunities in aviation, travel & hospitality, healthcare, financial services & more. This role will report to the Deputy General Counsel.
What You Will Do:
- Partner with our Growth teams on commercial deals that help grow our business
- Lead the drafting & negotiation of complex agreements with partners & service providers
- Provide day-to-day legal support to business teams & develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative ways as a business partner
- Partner with our Product, Tech & Security teams to provide counsel regarding the development & release of new products & services
- Work directly with colleagues across CLEAR to analyze risks, provide creative solutions & develop a strong, trusted relationship
- Coordinate with other internal functions to ensure internal business alignment & compliance with laws, rules & regulations
- Understand, manage, & advise key stakeholders of legal & business risks
- Help promote a consumer privacy & security centric culture
Who You Are:
- 4+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house as a transactional attorney
- A law degree from an accredited law school & admission to practice law in New York
- Enjoy working directly with non-lawyers to minimize & resolve issues quickly & effectively
- Proven track record of providing proactive, pragmatic legal counseling to business partners
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to facilitate collaborative solutions
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior business leaders & frontline team members alike
- Strong sense of ownership & accountability
- Demonstrate a naturally business-friendly approach to legal problem solving & effective counsel as well as creative solutions
- Skilled & efficient writer
- Motivated self-starter who can work independently & collaboratively
- Strategic thinker able to partner successfully with a wide variety of business groups & stakeholders while maintaining a big picture view of business needs & company goals
