Job Posting Title: Research Manager

Job Description:

TripAdvisor is the worlds largest online travel site, visited by over 450 million travelers each month. We are here to inform & assist travelers throughout their entire travel journey & own deep relationships with an incredibly valuable audience of travel intenders. 

In this role you will support the TripAdvisor Global Sales organization tasked with finding the best, most compelling stories to support TripAdvisors sales efforts for top-tier marketing partners. This person will be responsible for synthesizing & delivering compelling insights & visualizations that support our business, designing & delivering advertising effectiveness studies, developing category trend reports & managing custom research projects for TripAdvisors premiere clients. This role will be based in TripAdvisors New York City office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond quickly & accurately to research requests from the global sales team using syndicated data tools along with TripAdvisors own in-house user measurement tools
  • Support the day to day research & analytics needs of the TripAdvisor Sales organization
  • Respond quickly & accurately to research requests from the global sales team using syndicated data tools along with TripAdvisors own in-house user measurement tools
  • Maintain a research database of key data points, facts, & insights for the Sales team to readily access
  • Keep the Americas & global team up to date on the latest industry trends
  • Partner with other members of the research team on larger research initiatives such as content insights, trend reports, & general thought leadership
  • Leverage TripAdvisor worldwide user data & syndicated resources to produce compelling findings on clients digital marketing campaigns that prove ROI & drive renewal
  • Proactively bring new ideas & ways TripAdvisors extensive data can be used to further strengthen client relationships
  • Maintain relevant vendor relationships to find ways to further enhance the TripAdvisor sales offering via platform & capabilities partnerships 
  • Attend meetings or calls with senior client stakeholders to present analysis & findings

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, an insatiable curiosity, & adept at problem solving through data storytelling
  • Keenly attentive to detail, task-driven with the ability to produce key deliverables & hit important deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A desire & willingness to learn tools quickly & to dig deeper to discover new & better ways of surfacing insights to TripAdvisor & our clients
  • 3+ years of experience with syndicated media research tools (e.g. MRI, comScore, SimilarWeb & ListenFirst), web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics), & third-party research platforms (e.g. Mintel, eMarketer) preferred
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Google Slides, KeyNote & Excel
  • A deep understanding of the advertising media landscape across digital, mobile, social, & video
  • Strong desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative fast paced environment that requires flexibility & the ability to manage multiple priorities on an international team
  • Passionate about travel & the business 
  • An analytical thinker motivated  by intellectual curiosity to learn & understand the latest ideas & methodologies in digital marketing analytics
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of moving multiple projects forward independently with a manager located remotely
  • Adept in analyzing data, identifying insights & developing them into compelling presentations
  • Experience managing operational tasks in a digital environment at an agency, client, or publisher
  • Innovative & on the lookout for information, developments & market news to help the team sell more effectively
  • Excellent spoken/written English, with a strong working knowledge of other major languages also preferred
  • Experience with hotel chains or the greater travel industry preferred but not required
  • A background in basic quantitative research and/or analytics needed, in either a digital marketing agency/publisher setting or in academia. Also willing to consider candidates from traditional media.
  • SQL experience
  • Experience in illustrating quantitative & qualitative data in a visual manner
  • Bachelors degree or above. Excellent candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
