Our marketing team is a small group of fast-moving, data-driven & creative thinkers who nurture & grow theSkimm brand & community, while driving audience growth & engagement across all platforms. This role is focused on elevating our brand & fueling growth through mission, campaigns, & messaging.
In 2022, were gearing up to continue making an impact for millennial women & enabling them to live their smartest lives. We need a partner who will be responsible for supporting the development of integrated marketing campaigns & across organic & sponsored tentpoles, events & editorial initiatives. The ideal candidate will be equal parts strategic & creative, have strong experience in working with & building campaigns for sales clients & partners, have industry intel & enthusiasm, be proactive & meticulously organized, & be willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
The Director will serve as a collaborator & partner to the Marketing team, as well as teams across theSkimm including Sales, Editorial, Design, Communications, Social Media, Growth Marketing, Business Development, Strategy, Data, Product & more.
How youll contribute to our mission
Tentpole Campaigns, Brand Moments & Product Launches
- Plan & build marketing campaigns for theSkimms tentpole initiatives, product launches & brand moments in close collaboration with the Sales, Editorial, Product & Growth teams
- Ideate, create & initiate campaign concepting for both organic & BIS opportunities with an eye toward theSkimms sales & development timelines
- Lead the development of business cases, sales & design briefs, working to consult project management, brand & growth marketing, design & sales to not only tee up projects to GTM, but to prepare the broader teams to successfully execute
- Focus on target audiences, business goals & prospective clients, marrying thoughtful insights & campaign intent
- Serve as a key liaison to design, editorial & brand teams to ensure positioning is in line with theSkimms brand & vision
- Lead the marketing communications campaign development process, including:
- Serve as the marketing POC for design & sales
- Lead reviews & approvals in early concepting stages
- Manage requests & prioritization
- Workflow to hit deadlines
- Collaborate closely with agencies, vendors & partners
- Maintain continuous communication with key internal stakeholders for cross-functional alignment
- Analyze key campaign & marketing metrics & performance in partnership with data, growth, content & social to ensure insights are being leveraged for future campaigns
Youre ready for this! Heres a bit more about what were looking for
- 10+ years of full-time experience in brand marketing and/or working at a marketing agency, with a min of 8+ years specializing in campaign planning & sales strategy
- Excels working in high volume, fast-paced environments
- A keen understanding of how to balance brand & sales needs, with the ability to pivot quickly & adjust on the spot
- A finger on the pulse of the industry, intel into the competitive landscape, emerging trends and marquee or influential brands
- Strong writing, messaging & copywriting skills with an ability to connect the dots from concept to go-to-market messaging
- Strong project management skills with experience executing marketing campaigns & product launches, in addition to exceptional organizational, budgetary, time management & reporting skills
- Ability to collaborate & work cross-functionally
- Experience working with product & design teams
- Passion for theSkimm's brand & products
- Exceptional attention to detail & boundless creativity
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, & project management skills

What about the office?
This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work.
Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. We have a hybrid environment & ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in New York & will adjust this plan accordingly.
We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations & will also require additional boosters, & will always follow CDC & NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
