The Role:
We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer for our Data organization, to architect complex data solutions across platforms, business intelligence & data science / machine learning use cases. As the most senior individual contributor in the group, this person will drive technical & quantitative standards, coach engineers towards best practices, & fundamentally ensure that we are successful in building data technology that meets current & future business needs.
 
Duties & responsibilities may include:
        Lead technical & quantitative excellence forums within the data org & participate across other engineering domains
        Architect data solutions & processes enabling the business to turn data into value, including data warehousing, big data processing, AI & ML development, business analytics tooling, compliance, privacy & security
        Identify & own roadmap investments to drive technical & quantitative excellence
        Act as a mentor & coach to engineers, scientists & analysts in the data group
        Support data org leadership & exec team where needed with strategy, partnership evaluations & more
 
What skills are important to us:
        7+years experience in data engineering, including data platform architecture, integration, warehousing, big data processing & AI/ML. Experience with structured & unstructured, batch & stream, & cloud platform providers
        A background (educational or professional) in mathematics, economics or data science is a strong plus but not required
        Experience implementing & managing regulatory, compliance & privacy requirements in data systems
        Experience implementing standards for data governance & quality control
        Strong interpersonal skills, ability to earn trust & influence without direct management authority
        Desire to build a new platform from scratch & participate in hiring & performance standard-setting in the data org
