About The Job

Reporting into our Senior Finance Director you will hold an important role in responding to the business need for commercial expertise & financial modelling.

As Interim Head of Finance (Strategic Projects) youll support Management Board members & their teams in following investment appraisal best practices to ensure business decisions have a solid financial grounding. Youll represent Finance on Steering Groups & present financial business cases for approval.

Through your work on the Save2Invest profit-optimisation programme & other business partnering youll develop a strong understanding of financial risks & opportunities & youll work closely with the commercial finance team to ensure budget assumptions are robust & deliverable.

Youll have the opportunity to consider the impact of external economic factors on the business through delivery of a quarterly economic review, both to the Management Board via a paper & to the entire business in our All Hands meeting.

As a senior member of a growing & collaborative finance team, youll help support colleagues to deliver continuous improvements to processes e.g. day to day efficiency gains, reporting outputs & tech/tool enhancements.

What you will be doing:

  • Building business cases to support a variety of projects, from large & complex to more straightforward
  • Governing the cross-functional Save2Invest programme of initiatives designed to improve cost efficiency & optimise profitability
    • Review progress with initiative sponsors & discuss additional levers
    • Support in modelling benefits from cost reduction initiatives
    • Provide healthy challenge where business area is falling short of target 
  • Observing financial risks & opportunities for incorporation into central outlook
  • Reporting on capital expenditure by project, versus approved budget
  • Supporting non-finance functions in implementing best practice for investment appraisals e.g. during NPD cycles
  • Designing & implementing improvements to the business decision making process, from governance to business case approval & tracking
  • Writing the business quarterly economic review paper; summarising events in the macro- & microeconomic environments & presenting a visual version of this information to the entire business
  • Delivering internal & external analysis to the Senior Finance Director & CEO, as needed
  • Managing a small team who will support you in delivering the above.

  • In addition to the core responsibilities above, during the initial 1/2 month period you will support the finance team in managing the accounting team to deliver month end & oversee financial controls. 

Who You Are:

  • You are a qualified / certified accountant with a strong background in commercial finance & a solid understanding of financial control, reporting & accounting principles
  • You have 5+ years post qualification experience, ideally within the eCommerce/retail/manufacturing industries
  • Youre logical, pragmatic & data-driven in your decision-making
  • You are comfortable responding to tight deadlines & reprioritising work quickly to deliver quality output in a given timeframe
  • Not a requirement but knowledge of SQL would helpful in sourcing data
  • You enjoy leading a team & getting the best out of others
  • You are not afraid of a challenge & are able to work in a growing company where priorities can shift
  • Youre driven to continuously improve & build processes.

Level & Progression

A Head of is a domain expert, bringing significant expertise across a wider business area, managing a department or a large function, actively contributing to the goals of the department & wider company.

From there, you can progress to a Director level within the same function, or progress sideways to a role in another team at HelloFresh for which you have transferable skills.

Start date: ASAP

Duration: this is a 12 months fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave. We are open to both full time & part time (3 days / week minimum).

Location: The HelloFresh Farm, 60 Worship Street, EC2A 2EZ, London

Recruitment process: First, you will have a phone interview with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. Should you be successful, you will be invited for a first interview with our Senior Finance Director, or which you will need to work on a case study to present on the day. This interview will assess your competencies, technical skills a culture fit. The final stage of the recruitment process will be to meet with our UK CEO.
