As a Backend Engineering Team Lead at Via, you'll join an energetic & dynamic team, taking on a pivotal role in driving our innovative projects forward. You will be part of a highly talented & motivated development team responsible for Via's Rider Management system. This role involves leading a team of backend engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, scalable services, & contributing to the continuous improvement of our backend infrastructure & development processes.

What Youll Do

• Lead & manage a team of Backend engineers, overseeing the development of scalable microservices & core infrastructure components
• Design & implement robust, high-performance backend architectures using Python & AWS services
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system integration & optimal performance
• Develop, own, & execute the team's technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals
• Drive technical decisions around system architecture, infrastructure, & development practices
• Play a central role in managing, coaching, & fostering the growth of your engineering team
• Guide & mentor team members in backend development best practices, system design, & cloud architecture

Who You Are:

• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role managing backend engineering teams
• 7+ years of software development experience with strong focus on backend systems
• 4+ years of experience with Python development in production environments
• 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud services & infrastructure
• 4+ years of experience with Microservices architecture & development at scale
• Strong experience with Relational DBs & database optimization
• Experience with Kubernetes & container orchestration - Advantage
• BSc. in Computer Science or equivalent - Advantage
