Merchant Sales & Acquiring is a team dedicated to serving the needs of our merchant & acquiring partners. The UK&I Merchant Sales & Acquiring team is focused on ensuring that UK&I merchants prefer Visa. We want our clients to see Visa as a trusted strategic partner that delivers tangible value & is easy to do business with. Our actions are designed to protect & grow payment volume & revenue contributions while increasing the value merchants perceive & balancing the needs of all of our stakeholders. Our team specifically is focused on commercializing existing & new merchant relationships to drive Visa revenue.

The Merchant Account Lead will report to the Senior Director, UK&I Strategic Initiatives within the UK&I Merchant Sales & Acquiring team, & will play a key role in managing key external partnerships to grow Visa's commercial engagements in the UK&I. The Lead will be the single point of customer contact & own the client relationship, & will work to structure & negotiate commercial constructs, proactively source new opportunities, & drive account & market planning. As part of our team, you can expect to have exposure to a broad set of partners, & gain experience working across clusters & functions. You will have frequent exposure to our team's leadership & play a key role in closing merchant deals.

The ideal candidate will bring passion for & interest in payments, client-facing skills & presence, & knowledge of merchant strategies & priorities & will enjoy creative problem solving, working collaboratively across functions, & have an entrepreneurial mindset.

So what do we expect of you, day to day?

  • Manage senior merchant relationships: You will lead the management of merchant-focused strategic initiatives in the UK & Ireland. You will proactively manage the ongoing needs of the merchant & provide guidance to internal teams to ensure the highest quality customer service on all matters ranging from strategic to executional; Have a pro-active, solutions-oriented mindset.

    Driving positive merchant outcomes: You will be driving positive merchant outcomes. Consultatively identifying & prioritizing merchant needs & crafting customized solutions that grow the merchants' business & increase merchant satisfaction with Visa products/services

    Identifying & quantifying merchant investments: You will identify & quantify merchant investments. You will identify merchant investment & partnership opportunities that will jointly benefit merchants & Visa, develop appropriate business cases & forecasts, advocate for funding, track performance/return of invested funds, & use learnings to inform future investments. Gain alignment & merchant buy-in.

    Establishing strong internal partnerships: You will establish strong internal partnerships. Establish fluency in all Visa merchant-facing solutions. Collaboratively define responsibilities for various merchant outcomes with internal partners. Articulate merchant needs & influence product/capability road maps by leveraging merchant feedback, endeavoring to break down silos & work together as One Visa. You will continuously ensure a full alignment with other Account Executives in charge of the same client in other Regions, providing guidance, sharing information & trying to find the right balance between Global objectives & local needs.

Qualifications

  • Experienced, results oriented leader with extensive business experience & a proven track record in developing client relationships & sales partnerships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions & geographies in a complex matrix environment
  • Experience in Sales/Business Development, with a focus on cards & payments
  • Experience in working in a global organization would be beneficial
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise across a broad set of responsibilities & partners
  • Ability to work independently & in collaboration with high level of success/achievement
  • Proactive / self-starting; willing to take on new challenges & responsibilities
  • Ability to influence teams even if no direct reporting relationship
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Educate to degree level is preferred
