The Position:

Topics streaming service is seeking a Temp. Motion Designer with strong aesthetic sensibilities & a love of entertainment. Our team supports the marketing & creative needs for Topic, a streaming service with curated programming from around the world. Projects will include everything from developing social media assets, promotional content & marketing campaigns, & overall motion graphics & some video editing support.

The ideal candidate will have experience in direct-to-consumer entertainment (TV, film & streaming), social media & content creation. They should be familiar with our service, & all of the platforms where our presence & content live, including Amazon, AppleTV, Roku, YouTube, etc. They should also have a passion for foreign programming, crimes, mysteries & thrillers.

We are looking for a talented & creative motion designer that is self-motivated, resourceful, organized & efficient, adaptable, energetic, professional, collaborative, & with an overall great work ethic.

This role will be an integral member of the Creative team & will report to the VP, Marketing.

Responsibilities:

• Creating original content for social to promote our brand, service & programming.
• Bring static designs to life with animation & video.
• Animating motion GFX to improve storytelling.
• Animating audiograms, cinemagraphs & GIFS.
• Resize assets as needed for print & digital.
• Pulling stills for thumbnails.
• Pulling video clips & adding subtitles.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal teams to develop ideas.
• Own individual projects from conception to completion.
• Work to constantly push, evolve & elevate the work.
• Stay on top of industry trends, advancements & new techniques that could help to elevate the work & brand.
• Participate in brainstorm sessions related to projects & overall department, & company goals.
• Work within our file structure system & keeping files extremely organized.
• Other appropriately related projects/duties as assigned.

Background & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience as a motion designer, preferably in film, television, entertainment, or media
• 3+ years using Adobe After Effects & Photoshop
• Experience using Adobe Premiere
• A passion for design
• Strong sense of visual storytelling & visual aesthetic.
• Ability to take feedback as a process & a means to continually improve, grow & pivot as needed.
• Ability to work well under tight deadlines & to prioritize the needs of multiple assignments.
• Ability to present ideas clearly & thoughtfully.
• Ability to share feedback in a constructive way.
• Self-starter who is a detail-oriented, & enthusiastic team player.
• Passion for working in a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
• Incredibly creative, organized, efficient & dedicated to creating quality work.

Compensation (NYC Only): The salary range for this role is $29.00 - $31.00 hourly. The salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skillset & other job related factors.
