The Deputy Director, Communications will be a leader on our North America team, helping to drive high-impact primarily by media campaigning & through media relations.
This is a coach/player type role, where you will own strategically mapping, building, & driving our media relationships, & support a team of media campaigners to leverage them for coverage.
In addition, you'll have a role in the development of engaging content (videos, blog posts, interviews, etc.) that tell the story of change-making on the platform.
You'll amplify stories of everyday people trying to create change in the world, elevate the ability of individuals to shape society for the better, & inspire millions to believe in their own potential.
In addition, you will work closely with the Managing Director, Communications & members of the leadership team, including our CEO, to drive media coverage about Change, its staff & how our business works. This role reports to the Managing Director of Communications.
Change.org is the world's largest social change platform, empowering more than 280 million user in 196 countries to win incredible & inspiring victories on the issues they care about. Nearly every hour a campaign reaches victory, from strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa to fighting violence against women in India.
But we still have a ways to go to create a more participatory & responsive democracy. Petitions are just the beginning. We're designing a new generation of social action tools to allow users to engage more deeply on the issues they care about. The problems we're solving are big & we're looking for someone excited for the challenge.
