Go deeper: In this role, you will make an impact to Axios through the following responsibilities:
- Stays up to date on current & emerging best practices for compliance, & recommends new ideas to Senior Director to ensure Axios remains at the forefront of progressive HR trends
- Reviews, tracks, & documents compliance with mandatory & non-mandatory training, continuing education, & work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, etc
- Conducts or acquires background checks & employee eligibility verifications
- Performs routine tasks required to administer & execute programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, & leave; disciplinary matters; disputes & investigations; productivity, recognition, & morale; occupational health & safety; etc
- Attends & participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, & investigations
- Conduct exit interviews for departing employees & collect data to better understand themes
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, & local employment laws & regulations, & recommended best practices; reviews policies & practices to maintain compliance
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, & new technologies in human resources, talent management, & employment law
- Assists the Payroll Manager in ensuring system accuracy & maintenance
- Maintain employee records & ensure confidentiality
- Oversee our benefits management process via our PEO Justworks
The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios mission & have the following skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years' relevant experience
- Highly detail oriented & process-driven
- Strong knowledge of compliance best practices & emerging trends as they relate to policies, procedures, & employment law
- Highly collaborative mindset with a strong track record building successful working relationships with cross-functional team members
- Comfort working across & adapting to multiple software systems including HRIS, performance management technology, payroll systems, PEO, etc
- Experience managing compliance in a start-up/fast-paced environment
- Experience onboarding a new payroll & benefits system is a plus
