The Easel group at TpT is creating the next generation of device-enabled learning experiences for the millions of teachers & students relying on our platform. We are launching tools that allow teachers to easily distribute assignments & let students complete their work & receive feedback on their devices. We are building features for teachers to better understand the progress students are making as they complete this work digitally. 


As an Engineering Manager within the Easel team, you will define & meet team goals through all strategic levers at your disposal. This ranges from collaboratively setting the vision & roadmap for the team to establishing technical strategy to mentoring & growing the engineers who drive the work. To succeed, Engineering Managers are adept at collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders including product managers, designers, technical leads & engineers. You help ensure that the right level of process exists to enable the team to deliver at high quality without slowing down progress. As a member of TpTs engineering leadership team, you play a critical role in setting the overall culture of the engineering org & are a standard bearer of our values. 


  • Directly manage one or multiple product teams within Easel. Support engineers in delivering impact to the organization. 
  • Be accountable for the engagement, technical growth & career development of the engineers you manage.
  • Own the velocity, quality & reliability of the systems & products that your team delivers. 
  • Shape our long-term vision for our Easel offering & how Easel integrates with TpTs broader platform (TpT School Access, TpT Marketplace). 
  • Take ownership & responsibility for producing maintainable, monitored & highly available software systems.
  • Own & deliver on engineering practices & processes that have an impact on the productivity & engagement of your team & the wider organization. 
  • Be an active member of the engineering community by blogging & speaking about your experiences at TpT.


  • 2+ years of engineering management experience leading high performing teams tackling difficult problems. 
  • Deep technical foundation that allows you to engage with & support engineers at the design & review level on major decisions. 
  • Strong communicator who can crisply explain complex technical concepts.
  • Collaborates with product managers, community relations, & other engineering leaders in the org.
  • Comfortable with lean engineering & agile project management practices with a track record of successfully managing & delivering several large projects.
  • Loves to move fast & iterate to create high-quality products using a data-driven approach.
