JOB DETAILS

At Lyft, community is what we are & its what we do. Its what makes us different. To create the best ride for all, we start in our own community by creating an open, inclusive, & diverse organization where all team members are recognized for what they bring.

Lyft is looking for a motivated, dynamic Undergraduate Public Policy Intern, with a focus on community engagement, to work with the Public Engagement Team on driver engagement on our policy issues for Summer 2020. If you are an extrovert, a self-starter, are passionate about issue or electoral advocacy, have extraordinary attention to detail, & like to think about (and take action around) meaningfully engaging communities at scale, we would love to meet you!

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with market-based teams (often the California team but sometimes others) to design & execute driver & passenger engagement campaigns, making phone-calls, sending digital communication, & having in-person meetings to reach campaign goals
  • Interact with a series of policy campaigns & quickly absorb impact analysis reports such that you can translate them into specific market contexts
  • Work with the HQ team to document our driver & passenger engagement playbook--strong writing skills required
  • Willingness to occasionally travel: though you will be based in SF, there may be occasion to send you to a city thats starting to build out engagement efforts on a given front

Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation in 2021
  • Must be returning to school after the internship
  • Strong grasp of community organizing theory & practice
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn engagement CRMs like Salesforce
  • Great people skills--ability to talk to anyone & meet them where they are at, specifically amongst immigrant communities & driver populations
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Past experience on a political campaign as a volunteer or intern
  • Experience working independently but also collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, & goal-driven environment
  • Candidate should be passionate about Lyft & knowledgeable about the various public policy issues associated with our industry
  • Bonus points:Bilingualism and/or fluency in another language

Benefits:

  • Great medical, dental, & vision insurance options
  • In addition to observed holidays, generous paid time off
  • 401(k) plan to help save for your future
  • Monthly commuter subsidy to cover your transit to work
  • 20% off all Lyft rides
