Away is a global lifestyle brand with a mission to transform travel through products & content that inspire people to get away more. In support of our mission, we are seeking a Director of Internal Communications to join our Communications & Corporate Affairs team & work closely with our CEO. 

Want to help us transform the travel experience? The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing, executing & scaling employee-centric communications functions; crafting messaging & talking points for executives & company voices; & uncovering compelling storytelling opportunities that resonate across an organization. You will report to Aways Senior Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs. This role will be working remotely out of the Soho HQ office & will have limited in-office requirements once the office reopens in Spring 2022.

What youll do:

  • Design, execute, & scale our employee-centric communications function across the organization.  
  • Manage our Monthly All Hands Meetings & Company Newsletter, including content ideation, messaging & talking points development, & presentation support.
  • Drive change management communications strategies; assessing key areas to address, identifying internal stakeholders, & drafting clear messaging.
  • Craft communications that ensure Aways mission, values, & business objectives are clearly communicated & instilled.
  • Improve upon existing communications channels & develop new, out of the box ways to engage & inform employees across the globe.
  • Collaborate & partner with cross-functional teams to discover, curate & share compelling stories about our company, product, customers, & people.  
  • Anticipate & manage complex, unanticipated communication challenges as a thought partner & trusted internal consultant.

Who you are:

  • 7 years of relevant experience (in-house and/or agency) in internal/employee communications in various disciplines, such as organizational & executive communications.
  • Storyteller with strong communication, project management & problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments & geographies. 
  • Strategic thinker as well as a doer. You can think big-picture & also roll up your sleeves to get the job done, focusing your & company resources on efforts that add significant strategic value & long-term advancement to our overarching communications goals. 
  • Highly organized self-starter. You can work independently & recommend/initiate projects with minimal direction. 
  • Relationship builder & trusted advisor. You have a proven ability to partner with internal stakeholders on communications strategy & execution.
  • Care about results. Youre able to measure success & report on whats working & whats not so we can iterate & improve on a regular basis.
  • Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced & ever-changing environment.
  • Passionate about transforming travel (but thats a given!)
