As a Backend Engineer at Via, youll join our R&D center in Tel Aviv as part of the Infrastructure Development team. In this role, youll contribute to the scalability, reliability, & production quality of Vias infrastructure & software, ensuring robust support for our ride-sharing services. Youll also develop cloud-based tools that empower Via's dispatch operators & drivers to manage real-time shared rides at a massive scale seamlessly.

What You'll Do

• Own the design & development of scalable, reliable, & efficient systems to strengthen Vias technological foundation & proactively address growing stability & performance demands.
• Establish infrastructure standards for dev teams at Via, with a focus on observability.
• Design, implement, & develop centralized infrastructure & data pipelines.
• Develop infrastructure libraries that power hundreds of Vias microservices.
• Create & maintain self-service tools through a service lifecycle, including CI/CD automation, templates using GitLab, Jenkins Scripts & Terraform Modules to streamline developer workflows & empower teams to deploy with confidence.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Vias applications & architecture, ensuring alignment with infrastructure goals.
• Collaborate actively as a team player, with a solution-oriented mindset & a commitment to enabling the success of the broader engineering organization.
• Bring forward innovative ideas, take ownership of project timelines & deliverables, & drive scalability efforts.

Who You Are

• BSc. in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related Software Engineering field.
• 4+ years of experience in backend / full stack development using an object-oriented programming language.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud-based deployments (Preferably AWS maintaining Infrastructure as Code).
• 2+ years of experience working with Kubernetes & containerized environments.
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of microservices in large-scale production environments, including deploying, monitoring, & maintaining operational reliability in production systems.
• Proficiency in building & maintaining CI/CD pipelines, releasing & testing code.
• Designed & maintained data intensive applications is a strong plus.
• Implemented & maintained Relational / NoSQL Databases Data & DB Lifecycle
• Experience with Python & Go is a strong plus.
• Comfortable multi-tasking & working with multiple programming languages as needed for various tasks.
• A quick learner with the ability to rapidly adapt to new tools, methodologies, & workflows, staying ahead of evolving technologies & best practices.
• Team player with excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively across development & operations teams.
• Skilled at simplifying complex problems & breaking them down into manageable, solvable parts.
