The Primary Research Director will join a growing team responsible for creating insights & narratives around Vox Media audiences & reporting on advertising campaigns across all lines of business. You will be a key member of the Vox insights & innovation group, working with stakeholders across revenue operations, vox creative, & sales teams to lead market & brand research insights. This person will report into the Senior Director of Media Insights.

Your work will span several functions to craft our story & direct the business. Day to day, this role will include activities like scaling thought leadership studies & creating primary research to solve large business problems. This role will start off as an individual contributor role with people management responsibilities in the future. The impact is driven by aligning with stakeholders to drive projects related to furthering the Vox story & helping our client facing teams tell custom stories. He/she can perform as a leader with minimal supervision while proactively resolving issues.

What youll do:

  • Work collaboratively across the company to power ad packages, audience insights, & the development of new ad products through primary research
  • Work closely with the Sr. Director & SVP, to co-create strong pieces of thought leadership to message & showcase Vox's narrative
  • Ensure the work has deep impact on product, creative, & changes/optimize business for the revenue organization (via advertiser perception)
  • Have vision to plan headcount, budget management skills, & soft skills to grow team
  • Deep understanding of Vox advertising products & how they compare to competitors
  • Lead the distribution of primary insights with strong visualization, vision, & passion
  • Build out & manage a proprietary Vox panel
  • Have a strong POV, build plans, & scale market research function strategically within the organization

What you'll bring:

  • BA/BS preferred with 8+ years experience in research & data analysis
  • Understanding of marketers challenges through relevant job experience
  • Expert at primary research: experience in brand tracking, customer segmentation, product-feature optimization, & audience research
  • Experience working with PR, creative, & B2B marketing & pushing work out for public consumption
  • Ability to analyze & translate data-based findings into clear, relevant insights & express those insights with passion & brevity, both visually & verbally
  • Ability to push vision & strategy across the organization
  • Proven ability to design, manage & prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Smart & quick proactive learner with organizational agility & strong attention to detail
  • Willingness & ability to learn
  • A proven track record of strong interpersonal & presentation skills & successful teamwork & collaboration
  • Proven ability to design, manage & prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to talk research like an expert: SPSS is a must, survey design, & qualitative analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel a must. Advanced PowerPoint or Keynote skills
