Tripadvisor is looking for an entrepreneurial leader to manage & grow the companys New Ventures team. New Ventures was started in 2019 as an internal incubator for innovation & has since launched tens of experimental products.

Moving forward, this General Manager will lead a cross-functional team to continue growing existing ventures & launch new early stage businesses for the company. The GM of New Ventures will work with Tripadvisor leadership to define strategic areas for investment, then bring concepts through a stage-gate investment process from ideation to beta to growth. As you lead the New Ventures team, you will be responsible for working with team leads to make recommendations for continued investment, iteration or retiring ventures as appropriate given market & customer feedback at each stage.

As you grow the portfolio of ventures, you will be responsible for achieving significant new consumer revenue & driving a culture of innovation for the company. You will be expected to move fast, learn quickly, & grow the teams capabilities as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Own a portfolio of new consumer ventures at Tripadvisor; managing the launch, growth, and/or retirement of ventures as they progress through stage gates over time.

• Own company wide OKR delivery of new ventures goals that may cover multiple ventures & stages at once (concept to beta to growth).

• Lead a product & operations team to launch concepts quickly & find product market fit. 

• Lead growth efforts, managing increasing investment collaboration with internal marketing stakeholders, to scale the most successful ventures.

• Effectively communicate progress, expected venture goals & milestones, & resource requirements to achieve goals with senior leadership.

• Coordinate with GMs of other business lines in order to manage risk & build early buyin for ventures which may impact other objectives.

• Manage & grow both internal team resources as well shared services resources as the portfolio of ventures grows.

• Be an innovation culture-carrier at Tripadvisor, sponsoring adoption of new technologies, hackathons, & sharing learning rapidly.

Qualifications:

• 10 - 15 years of experience within a leadership role, specifically responsible for launching 0 to 1 concepts & driving the growth of early stage businesses. Entrepreneurial & startup experience is a plus

• Experience in Product & managing a team of Product Managers is required

• Experience leading a team in a global & matrixed environment with a history of leading/partnering with marketing, engineering, biz dev & other functions

• Consumer expertise, understanding both market trends & key components of eCommerce & DTC businesses

• Excellent stakeholder management, relationship development, & influencing skills

• Strong business judgment, with past experience in leading strategic planning, financial planning & analysis, & budgeting. Experience with early stage investing is a plus.

• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, both written & in person. Experience communicating with senior executives
