Maven is seeking a Director of Data to level up our business intelligence & product analytics teams, own the Maven data roadmap & support the Maven organization with data to standardize KPIs & improve workflows. Reporting to the VP of Growth, the Director of Data will take on a crucial, technical role in ensuring Mavens continued success as the data needs of each department scale. The Director of Data is responsible for expanding use of data across Maven departments. The data teams principal goal is always to use data to inform strategy, which requires a balance of immediate business requests with the data team's own vision & judgment of what is important to track & analyze.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Mentor & develop a team of talented employees passionate about using data to further Mavens mission
  • Contribute to the roadmap for the data team while triaging & prioritizing requests across the organization from week to week
  • Bring technical skills to reduce data team reliance on engineering
  • Continue to develop our analytic technology stack to grow use of data technologies in other departments
  • Own our data dictionary & standardization of metrics & code review team members work
  • Develop rapport & respect internally; use influence to successfully liaise across all Maven teams

What you bring to the table:

  • Youre a seasoned recruiter & manager for employees who are eager to grow & learn
  • Youve demonstrated success building teams at a high growth company
  • You have technical experience, specifically within data engineering
  • You have a vision for how to use data effectively, which will help set the course for Maven
  • You have strong communication skills, particularly with management across departments
  • Youre a self-starter who proactively identifies areas for improvement with a proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environments
  • You have strong attention to detail & the ability to improve the accuracy & speed of operational tasks


  • Bachelors degree from a top university with a focus on quantitative fields such as: Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science
  • 8+ years in analytical roles, preferably in healthcare or at a B2B company
  • 4+ years of managerial experience
  • High proficiency with SQL
  • Knowledge of Python to build data pipelines
  • Experience with BI & product analytics tools (Looker, Amplitude, & BigQuery a plus)
