As the centralized engine for innovation & development the Roivant R&D team is responsible for: 1) discovery efforts focused on integrating computational & medicinal chemistry methods in order to establish R&D leadership positions in oncology, immunology & rare diseases; 2) working hand in hand with Business Development to establish the scientific rationale & initial development strategy for in-licensing opportunities; 3) providing tactical & strategic R&D support to stand up new portfolio companies (Vants) & advance development efforts across the portfolio. 

Position Title: Principal Scientist Discovery Research, Oncology

Position Summary:

Roivant is seeking a research scientist to play a key role in driving our preclinical research efforts to advance best in class therapies in induced proximity oncology with a focus on small molecules. The individual should have expertise in small molecule oncology & assay development in the oncology setting. The candidate must have discovery research experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, & additional experience in translational research is highly desirable.


  • Lead preclinical assessments to advance programs forward from inception into IND-enabling studies
  • Design & interpret experiments, oversee bench work, troubleshoot assays to validate targets & advance programs, in collaboration with colleagues
  • Provide insight into target biology & translational oncology from bench to clinic
  • Data review, analysis, & interpretation from a variety of sources to enable program go/no-go decisions
  • Design, develop, & execute preclinical data package to support IND filings
  • Work collaboratively with internal & external industry & academic teams
  •  Manage projects with vendors & CROs
  •  Write, edit, & review reports, records, & documents for IP & regulatory filings
  •  Present results at internal & external meetings
  •  Contribute to building a positive, team-oriented biotech culture

Skills, Qualifications, & Requirements:

  • PhD in cell biology, with preference oncology
  • 6+ years of relevant research experience including experience at a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company, in a biology or drug discovery group, & ideally prior experience in an academic research setting; translational research experience is also desirable
  • Deep scientific knowledge & technical skills in the field of oncology
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong people skills, leading by example & working with research teams
  • Technical proficiency with immunotherapy platforms
  • Experience working with external vendors & collaborators
  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Experience in project leadership & laboratory management
