The Knot Worldwide is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. Someone who considers solid test coverage to be a critical part of the development process. An Engineer who is an advocate for Agile processes & a strong believer in the importance of Agile when producing high-quality software. You understand the importance of automated tests & the role of unit tests for maintainable code. You can set milestones & exercise independent judgment to complete projects on time & to specifications. You have strong communication skills, & the ability to explain problems to technical & non-technical folks alike. A love for sharing knowledge & a desire to learn from others. A passion for self-improvement. You constantly strive to expand your technical skillset & to improve the quality of your code. You enjoy finding new ways to produce great code at a blazing pace.

This position is fully remote & may be performed anywhere in the United States, except for in the state of Colorado.


  • Serve as an Engineer for the Austin Transactional Systems team
  • Manage, maintain, & upgrade Magento platform
  • Produce well-tested, maintainable code on the back-end & front-end that can stand up to 100,000 requests per day
  • Collaborate in the Agile development process to help architect, build, & ship new products & features
  • Be an advocate for coding best practices on the team, & stay up-to-date on new technologies & industry standards
  • Engage with the tech organization beyond our team by participating in company-wide decisions on architecture, data, & process patterns
  • Partner with Product to maintain the right balance between feature & technical work 


  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a software engineer building beautiful, scalable, & highly visible web applications
  • Minimum 1-year experience with Magento 
  • Working knowledge of PHP7, Apache/NGINX, Varnish, Redis, MySQL/SQL, Elasticsearch, CSS, Bootstrap, HTML5 / Javascript/jQuery
  • Understanding of server configuration, optimization, caching, & scaling techniques
  • Experience in one or more of the following technologies a bonus: Node, Ruby on Rails, React/Redux/ES6/Webpack, Postgres, Mongo. 
  • Familiarity with the latest Javascript technologies & experience building new front-end features in a modern framework such as React (exposure to a range of front-end frameworks & component libraries is a plus!)
  • Experience working with Cloud infrastructure platforms (experience with AWS a plus!) 
  • Experience in implementing, consuming, & optimizing APIs. 
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks on the back-end & front-end
