What We Do

Skupos is the data hub for the convenience retail industry. Retailers, distributors, & brands all convene on the Skupos platform to create value from previously disparate & hard-to-obtain data. We build tools with this data to help each cohort of our industry succeed in their roles. For distributors & CPG brands, we provide real-time insight into customer inventory & market basket data. 

Skupos is seeking a Senior Accountant that can assist with the day-to-day management of all financial & accounting activities & the timely & accurate preparation of our monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Post our Series B financing, led by Insight Venture Partners, we are establishing our accounting function that can scale with the growth of Skupos.

The Senior Accountant will interface with the Controller & VP of Finance as well as other members of the management team. This position will partner with the Controller to create the operating processes & accounting policies around A/P, A/R, payroll, invoicing, treasury, tax, & financial reporting.  The ideal candidate thinks & acts like an owner of the business, is organized, can optimize technology, is able to anticipate issues as the company grows & is willing to play a critical role in the development of the organization. This role will require someone who is comfortable in an ambiguous environment & can build the right team & processes.

What You'll Be Doing

+ Work closely with our finance & operations team to complete Month End Close with preparation of journal entries & month-end GL account reconciliations
+ Own all operating spend & be the key liaison between vendors, contractors, & 3rd parties for anything related to pay procurement
+ Own invoicing, collections & revenue accounting - understand the logistics of our business to make recommendations for audit readiness
+ Contribute to the development, documentation, & automation of accounting policies & procedures including but not limited to A/P, A/R, Prepaids, Accruals, & Revenue Recognition
+ Partner with the Controller on technical accounting research & writing technical memos to define accounting policies
+ Complete analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
+ Prepare monthly investor updates & financial reporting
+ Manage various aspects of external audits including the preparation of audit schedules & review of outstanding items lists
+ Assist in ad-hoc analysis & presentation requests

What You Should Have

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics; CPA preferred
+ Experience in public accounting
+ 3-5 years of relevant work experience
+ Must possess & in-depth working knowledge of GAAP, month end close processes, general & operational accounting, & financial reporting
+ Fluency with accounting, tax, revenue, & payroll software
+ Strong sense of ownership & curiosity to learn new skills
+ Analytical, problem-solving, & advanced business acumen mindset
+ Excellent time management, communications, decision making, human relations & organization skills
+ Self-starter with the ability to work independently & solve problems
+ Ability to work on & prioritize multiple projects while continuing to meet goals & deadlines
+ Proven ability to independently resolve issues & recommend process improvements
