Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Manager to join our Insurance Operations team in our New York City office.

Oscar is a technology-driven, consumer-focused health insurance startup founded in 2012 & headquartered in New York City. Our goal is to make health insurance simple, transparent, & human. We need your help to do so.

About the role:

You will manage the oversight & execution of Oscar's launch & expansion efforts for our Claims platform & operations. This includes strategic partnerships & market expansion efforts. You will do this by working with collaborators within the Claims team & partners across the rest of Insurance Operations to ensure the successful launch of new markets, lines of business, & partnerships by the target launch date for Oscar's full portfolio.

You will report to the Senior Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • The go-to individual at the company for Claims operations by serving as the primary expert in the regulatory landscape & Oscar's operational ecosystem
  • Develop foundational processes for our scaling operations & summarize the complexity of our data & operations into clear explanations
  • Run & bring technical & operational improvements to Oscar's claims processes to ensure compliance, improve scalability, & manage risks
  • Work with our teams & vendors & partners to accomplish expansion & platform targets & important operational metrics
  • Surface data, process, & technology issues through identification, measurement, & monitoring of our operations
  • Partner within Insurance Operations & with Product & Engineering & Data Science teams to bring the next generation of health insurance operations
  • Support your team & leadership by guiding decisions & implementation on an ongoing basis

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or commensurate 4 years of operating experience
  • 5+ years experience in operations, health insurance, data analysis, engineering or consulting
  • 5+ years of experience using data software such as Excel, SQL or Python
  • Experience developing project plans coordinating with internal & external stakeholders
  • Experience designing & improving workflows & standing up accompanying operating & technical procedures

Bonus points:

  • Process Improvement or Lean Six Sigma training
  • Experience with healthcare claims processing
