What if we could grow everything? Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, & redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe's growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, & more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing & building new organisms. Today, our foundry is developing over 40 different organisms to make different products across multiple industries.
To achieve our mission, we need to get the word out about what we're working on as quickly as we're working on it. We're looking for individuals who can be available, sometimes on short notice, to help us create high-quality video content in order to reach this goal. As the ideal candidate, you have strong on-set skills including a facility with all kinds of cameras & lighting setups. Additionally, you have the ability to do quick, quality edits in programs like Adobe Premiere. You are passionate & able to tell our story in a caring & thoughtful way.
For video, your focus with us is on quickly making small amounts of content. We'll do the project planning, but we'll contact you intermittently with shoot dates & requirements (think talking head interviews, B-roll, & the like). If you can make it, great- we'll be relying on you to get the job done! And if not, no problem. We'll contact you with small opportunities in the future. This job will prioritize short, intermittent contract work. Our goal isn't to hire someone with a set number of hours per week, but rather to build connections with a number of filmmakers who we trust to do a good job helping out when we need a hand!
For editing, your focus with us would be for clipping longer videos into small chunks usable for social media platforms of all kinds. This might sometimes require audio work & color correction, but may at other times just be splitting a pre-existing video into pieces. Again, we'll do the big-picture planning, & come to you with a defined task!
As creatives, our role transcends simply providing aesthetically compelling content. We articulate & re-articulate our mission & vision to help craft the future - & help ensure that the products we are bringing to life are ethically desirable by the people whose lives they touch, & delivered with care.
** for video portion of this role, candidate should be in the Boston area, for the editing side, candidates can be remote **
