 Lyft is seeking a sharp, dynamic, & self-motivated attorney to join the Product & Commercial Legal team. Youll partner with & provide legal guidance to departments across the organization on initiatives that influence the Lyft business & more. The legal issues youll encounter are cutting edge, revolutionary & always evolving, so it will be up to you to continuously assess & advise using a creative & pragmatic approach. The successful candidate will be skilled at building strong relationships, working in the unknown while balancing legal risks, & comfortable working in a fast-paced & dynamic environment. 


  • Act as primary legal advisor for product & engineering teams, supporting them from design to launch of new features, products, services, programs, & commercial relationships
  • Counsel & coordinate across Product, Marketing, Engineering, Risk & Comms to recognize & mitigate legal issues related to the development & commercialization of products 
  • Help ensure compliance with consumer protection laws, privacy laws & regulations, commercial & contractual issues, & other legal requirements
  • Understand & advance Lyfts priorities by connecting issues across business leaders & subject matter experts to develop & drive comprehensive, long-term legal strategies that balance risk & business objectives
  • Draft & negotiate a variety of legal agreements involving complex partnerships, technology transactions, & IP-related legal issues 
  • Prioritize workload to set goals & meet deadlines in a fluctuating & sometimes ambiguous business environment
  • Collaborate with legal team members to improve processes & ensure business demands are satisfied
  • Assist other teams with projects on an as-needed basis


  • Membership in a state bar with good standing
  • 9+ years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Experience at a technology company advising on products, technology transactions, consumer protection, privacy & data security, & IP law
  • Not required, but a plus for experience in other areas of law including: employment law, marketing & advertising, & payments
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written & verbal), & interpersonal skills
  • Willing & eager to take on new areas of law & unfamiliar issues
  • Creative yet pragmatic to deliver solutions that support the business
  • Strong track record of working with a wide range of commercial agreements & customer facing terms
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, & simultaneously manage workstreams, multiple client demands & shifting priorities
  • Strategic & business-savvy to help balance legal risk while guiding business decisions 
  • Ability to operate autonomously while being a respectful & responsive team player who is committed to building trust & collaboration among their colleagues 
  • Good business & legal judgment & a sense of humor
