The Compensation Analyst is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day compensation needs across Appian, including: base pay administration, bonus & incentive program development, internal/external market competitiveness & compliance.  Reporting to the Manager of Total Rewards, this role will play an integral part in the creation, implementation & maintenance of Appians job architecture & compensation structures.

  • Act as a strategic partner to the HRBPs & business leaders to support compensation practices based on the groups unique needs & objectives
  • Manage Appians participation & data submission for all compensation surveys
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses across all business units to evaluate compensation programs & recommend creative & appropriate actions
  • Assist in the creation, implementation & maintenance of Appians job architecture & compensation structures
  • Administer annual compensation review & increase cycle, including communications to organization leaders, HRIS administration, Finance approval, etc
  • Utilize benchmark data to market price jobs & provide guidance to hiring managers & Talent Acquisition partners
  • Administer annual bonus calculation & payout process
  • Maintain PayScale MarketPay system & work to improve data quality & refresh frequency
  • Maintain job profiles & compensation ranges within our HRIS system
  • Participate in the evaluation & creation of short & long-term incentive programs
  • Proactively evaluate pay practices for alignment with internal & external equity & pay trends
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, legal statutes & internal control requirements, including FLSA determinations
  • May assist with the preparation of quarterly equity grants for Board approval

Education & Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in compensation or related field, preferably with a global organization
  • Experience with Radford global salary surveys, preferred
  • Knowledge of Workday, SAP or similar HRIS & PayScale systems preferred
  • Advanced Excel knowledge & skills
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university, preferred
  • Must be located within the Greater McLean, VA area
