As Compass' Payroll Senior Analyst youll report to the Senior Manager, Payroll & support the dynamic employee population spanning across all regions Compass operates.  The position will be responsible for developing the growth & expansion strategy around in-house payroll. You & the payroll team will execute all activities related to processing payroll for over 2000 employees. Youre a reliable, dedicated, professional & effectively prioritize to manage competing projects & tasks.

At Compass You Will:

  • Effectively act as a leader to team members, work as a member of that team, & organize work activities for other members of that team
  • Assist with payroll projects & system implementations
  • Enter & audit all employee earnings, including hours worked, salary wages,
    commissions, bonus & vacation payments across multi-jurisdictions for semi-
    monthly payrolls
  • Calculate & enter prorated rated wages for new hires & terminations
  • Review all payroll registers prior to processing semi-monthly payrolls
  • Enter & audit employees benefit adjustments
  • Work with third party administrators to reconcile benefit contributions
  • Perform audits & reconciliation of payroll information & provide outside auditors payroll related data for 401k & workers compensation
  • Troubleshoot time & attendance timecard errors & audit timecards prior to import into payroll system
  • Process manual/out-of-cycle check payments as required
  • Respond to management team & employee inquiries regarding payroll
  • Run audit reports & post-payroll reports, including general ledger files
  • Ensure accurate & timely accounting, record keeping & management of payroll related data
  • Prepare & process payroll amendments as required
  • Develop, recommend & implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Research & resolve discrepancies independently
  • Drive compliant & timely implementation & execution of payroll control groups in new jurisdictions
  • Register for new state tax identification numbers & act as point of contact for tax agencies as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 8 years payroll administration experience
  • Experience handling payroll for over 1,800 employees 
  • Experience in supervisory or lead role
  • Preferred experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or Workday ERP Suite: payroll, time & attendance, general ledger & custom reporting modules
  • Experience with multi-state payroll
  • Implementation & project management experience
  • Experience processing payroll tax amendments & W-2 reconciliations
  • Experience with state & local tax registrations
  • Experience with 401K & workers compensation reconciliations & audits
  • Excellent communications & Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Required competencies include attention to detail, demonstrated ability to multi-task & balance multiple projects & payrolls at once, comfort with analyzing large amounts of data, problem solving ability & the ability to operate in a fast-paced & highly confidential setting
