Updater is looking for a seasoned Senior Manager, QA to join our innovative team within our MoveHQ division. In this pivotal role, you will drive the long term evolution of our quality assurance practices, leading a team of manual testers & SDETs while partnering with cross-functional teams to embed quality into every phase of our SDLC. This role is ideal for a proactive, hands-on leader with a passion for advancing product quality & fostering a high-performance team environment. This position is instrumental in shaping our QA vision & strategy within the Engineering Leadership organization.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead & mentor a team of QA engineers, fostering a collaborative & high-performance environment. Provide career development & guidance, leveraging 4+ years of people management experience to drive growth & accountability.
  • Testing Strategy & Execution: Develop & implement QA strategies with a focus on transitioning to automation, maintaining a high quality of product output & efficiency in testing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product, Development, & other cross-functional teams to define QA requirements & integrate quality-focused practices into the SDLC.
  • Engineering Leadership Partnership: As a member of the Engineering Leadership team, work closely with other Leaders to align QA goals with organizational objectives, supporting a culture of quality & continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate & improve QA processes, implementing metrics & reporting to monitor quality standards, identify gaps, & drive ongoing enhancements.
  • Risk Management: Identify & communicate risks related to software releases, quality assurance, & automation strategies, providing clear insights for decision-making.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in Quality Assurance, with demonstrated expertise in both manual & automated testing approaches.
  • People Management: 5+ years of experience in a management or leadership role, overseeing QA teams & guiding team members' professional growth.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in QA automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Appium), as well as experience with manual testing methodologies.
  • SDLC Integration: Proven ability to partner with Product & Development teams to define & develop effective QA processes within the SDLC.
  • Engineering Environment: Prior experience working in an Engineering Leadership organization, contributing to high-level decisions & strategies.
  • Communication: Strong verbal & written communication skills, capable of articulating complex quality standards & processes to both technical & non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD tools & processes.
  • Background in Agile development environments.
  • Familiarity with performance testing & security testing practices.
  • Familiarity with the following tech stock: Cypress, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python, Native iOS & Native Android

This posting is anticipated to remain open until January, 8 2025. The new hire salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Factors which may affect the starting pay within this range include skills, experience, & other qualifications aligned with Updater's internal leveling guidelines.
