SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing testing expertise & leadership with direct responsibility for one or more teams. You will be responsible for the execution of the team & the management of the QEs that report into that team. You own the co-ordination of QEs to testing projects across development teams in the Voice/Video, Content & Free to play.
You implement a relatively efficient operating model for testing experts to help within adjacent product / service development verticals. You also own the day-to-day management of software delivery of test infrastructure. You help scope development efforts, identify risks, & effectively prioritise deliverables. You make sure your team has adequate time to design the right solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Quality Engineering Manager youll be working closely with our Quality Engineers day-to-day to support & mentor them as they tackle tough technical challenges. Youll help find opportunities focused on providing the best employee experience while balancing delivery of capabilities that work at scale. Youll own your software, helping define solutions to problems while mitigating long-term risks. Youll raise & help mitigate blockers while providing status updates to leadership.
You manage, identify & provide opportunities for Quality Engineers.
You influence the planning & breakdown of work that a development team takes on.
You work with Senior Quality Engineers to deliver a technical vision with an eye for customer satisfaction & security.
You are responsible for delivery of your assigned backlog items by communicating blockers & progress through-out the project lifecycle.
You ensure your team provides concise yet comprehensive testing plans & summaries/evaluations on test results, test progress, & product quality for complex or high-risk product & platform developments where appropriate
Measure, own & drive predictability through Operational Excellence & transparency through data & KPIs.
You own your test infrastructure/harnesses by helping to guide your team to deliver it while providing appropriate support for end-users (development teams in this case).
When you are not helping to drive forward the assigned features & people management youll be contributing your testing or coding skills towards the delivery of features or improving operational excellence profile.
You will deliver architecturally sound solutions in the absence of a highly experienced individual contributor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
A strong technology background delivering or testing software as an individual contributor or manager.
Communication, presentation & facilitation skills.
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, & drive.
Demonstrated abilities driving operational excellence & best practices.
Demonstrated experience in effective test planning & execution.
Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality test infrastructure/harnesses against products or services.
Proficiency in relevant technologies.
Able to communicate technical concepts simply & successfully, to both technical & non-technical audiences.
Maintains relationships with other disciplines & stakeholders.

Demonstrable experience of testing in service oriented architectures & understanding data flow through such systems.
You can take on complex technical concepts & information relatively quickly in most contexts, & provide immediate advice on effective courses of action.
Experience working with version control systems such as git.
Understanding of build & configuration tools such as Jenkins & Puppet.
Understanding of agile methodologies & how they are applied in software development.
