THE POSITION

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Data Science to tackle our most challenging analytics problems. Throughout the lifecycle of a model, from data collection through results, you will create predictive models to drive actionable insights across FanDuel Group. In this role youll be working hands on & also managing & developing other data scientists.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Manage a group of Data Scientists to develop production-ready models & solve company-wide challenges
  • Choose appropriate tools, systems & models to solve large data problems
  • Proactively seek opportunities or problems to be analyzed
  • Put together project plans for the Data Science team to follow
  • Presents to senior leaders confidently & with impact
  • Models, analyses & solutions note potential cross-company product impacts & drivers
  • Build robust predictive models, showing capabilities of feature & model selection
  • Work with decision-makers across the company to understand their goals, identify opportunities to use data to develop new insights & improve business results
  • Develop, iterate & take to production advanced machine learning models
  • Identify, grow & develop top talent within the Data Science organization
  • Lead regular forums within or across teams - ensuring key decisions & conclusions are disseminated & understood
  • Determines inefficiencies in ways of working & seeks to solve them
  • Engage with engineering to build scalable tools to accelerate the conversion of data to insight
  • Propose improvement to processes in the life cycle of data science within their team
  • Direct the efforts of internal or third party teams to deliver projects
  • Sets standards for how analysis & models should be polished & communicated

THE STATS

What were looking for in our next teammate

  • 6+ years of industry experience in data science, analytics or engineering preferred
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of data scientists preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data science preferred
  • Understanding of engineering standards & practices
  • Strong analytical & quantitative skills, with high proficiency in Python or R, & SQL (or coding language of choice)
  • Strong understanding & application of Bayesian statistics
  • Comfortable with command line tools & GitHub
  • Object-oriented design & coding skills
  • Ability to work across teams, locations & time zones
  • Willing to work nontraditional hours when applicable
  • Interest or experience in Fantasy Sports and/or Sports Gaming
