The Job

We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance to be accountable for the financial & accounting strategy & operations across the whole organization. The role is a critical leadership role & oversees a wide range of functions like financial reporting, forecasting, strategic planning, internal control & tax preparation all while aiming for the highest possible financial performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing the finance strategy for both the short & long term, collaborating with senior business executives to determine business priority
  • Reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for functional oversight of all activities of the finance department, including generation of financial reports (P/L, BS, cash flow statements), AP/AR management, budget forecasting, investment & funding activities, tax management & compliance
  • Analyze the reports provided finance/accounting team members to generate forecast information & share results with the senior leadership team to drive toward data-based strategic & operational decisions
  • Act as the key point of contact for all financial matters involving the senior leadership team & representatives from key stakeholders (including parent company members)
  • Maintain & enforce a documented system of accounting policies & procedures across the organization
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, vendor discussions & contract negotiations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit, complying with local, state, & federal government reporting requirements & tax filings
  • Streamline operational processes across both the finance/accounting team members & management to ensure accountability of business metrics & financial analysis
  • Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met
  • Participate in strategic planning as a member of the 500px senior leadership team & lead discussions & planning sessions on financial matters
  • Develop reports, dashboards & key tools for tracking KPIs & critical financial metrics, providing a summary of status on a regular basis to key stakeholders across the business line & senior leadership team
  • Identify any key issues or risks that impact the meeting of pre-established targets & propose & implement solutions & improvements

What the Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting or finance position
  • 3+ years of experience in a financial management role
  • Demonstrated experience with financial operations & management across an organization or a division of a large organization
  • Preference will be given to candidates with CPA/CGA/CFA designations
  • Experience interfacing & reporting to C-suite executives & senior leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statements & reporting
  • Deep knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks, Jonas)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, & written skills
  • Proven leadership, organizational, & project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task while making sound decisions & judgments
  • A bias towards action: the ability to cut through any issue, identify the salient points, & rally a team around addressing them
