Job Description

The Director of Data is a quantitative but pragmatic problem solver responsible for championing the Traackr data vision & its implementation. Working under the VP of Engineering, the Director of Data is also responsible for the integrity of Traackr's data, what data gets into the Traackr systems, what data gets out & how data is leveraged internally.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Product team to understand customer data needs

  • Translate product needs into technical requirements

  • When applicable, translate product needs into data models & analytical solutions

  • Responsible for team to execute requirements / solutions

  • Understands & uses data analysis & modeling techniques

  • Hands-on (technical/data analysis leadership, mentors others)

  • Coordinate with the rest of the engineering team to build out scalable data infrastructure, including warehousing, internal tools for data access & entry, & reporting systems

  • Responsible for the integrity of Traackr's data: data entering or leaving the Traackr platform, reporting on data quality

  • Strategically manages relationships with data partners

  • Responsible for internal documentation of Traackr's data & knowledge transfer to other Traackr teams

  • Mentors & manages team members

  • Manage the day to day work & career development for a team of data analysts, data engineers & in the future, data scientists

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Math, Economics, Engineering, or similar

  • 7+ years of experience as a data engineer, data scientist, data analyst or equivalent

  • Hands on experience in data-driven projects (e.g. analytics, measurement, modeling, machine learning)

  • Experience with Python (Pandas/SciPy), R or equivalent

  • Experience with databases (Experience with data-warehousing would be a plus)

  • 2+ years experience in a people management capacity

  • Experience managing or collaborating with a data engineering team to build the right tools, automation & capabilities to enable data-informed decision making.

  • Strong presentation skills, able to clearly communicate results to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Able to tackle ambiguous problems, execute analysis, prioritize work & deliver projects on time.
